Order of integrating Updates and Components Hi I'm very new user of this tool, maybe my question could be a little stupid for other people but my english is very bad and I don't found a answer to this (its my fault... I know it...): ¿What's the correct order of integrating the updates into the Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO with Convenience Rollup Update? I'm using MSGM Toolkit v6.4. The order I think is: NetFX4.6.2 >> IE11 >> RDP8.0/8.1 >> WMF5.1 >> DaRT7 >> DX9C (all of them with the packages from MSGM Toolkit v6.4 and in this order) WHD WAT update from Addictional updates WHD General updates (Convenience Rollup Update) WHD Hotfix updates WHD Security updates Remove Components: HyperV Guest Integration Drivers >> Windows Home Group >> Windows Parental Controls (with MSGM Toolkit v6.4 and in this order) I will use this post to give thanks to the developers of this tools @abbodi1406 (mantainer of update list and creator of Updates Installer), @burfadel (maintainer of Office2013 lists), @Alphawaves (for the WHDownlaoder) and the MSGM Team of course. With this tools I think could make my life easy.THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS AND TIME.
What about WHD Updates order, in your automated install updated script, in wich order are installed??, I mean, for example: First Additional, then hotfixes, then security and then general or, Are they installed in an other order? (still in case of use the Convenience Roll UP) Thanks for your reply.
I am not sure if the update kb2646060-v3 is getting installed or not. everytime i run the script it says "installing KB2646060"(no installation progress details shown) and then it moves on to other categories of updates. See the image for more details: hxxp://imgur.com/a/JaaZi NOTE:- 1.Source OS: An online Windows 7 Professional SP1-U 64-bit OS already containing the latest updates upto 10th january 2017 (Update list released on 10th Jan 2017 12:52 am (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada)). 2.Script Used: WHD-Windows7-Updates-Installer_2.5.zip(WHD-W7UI_WithoutKB3125574.cmd). 3.using the latest update list(Windows7-x64.wh) released on 26/1/2017 2:15 am (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada). 4.i chose the following settings everytime: hxxp://imgur.com/a/5XWzI 5.replace the x in hxxp with t.
Even if it checks for 2645594 prerequisite, it seems to also check for applicability (AMD CPU and/or specific model). My offline integrated image contains prerequisite, but 2646060 didn't install at setupcomplete.cmd stage (contrary to the other online only updates) with error 2149842967 (= not applicable for your system). I have Intel CPU.
@Alphawaves , you know what? I have problems of windows and MS office update before but because of your WHDownloader I don't have them anymore! thank you!
Do you know of some other way to check for available drivers from Microsoft (without automatically installing them)? (I don't usually get drivers from there, but on rare occasion, it has one that I cannot find anywhere else.)
Before I break my Windows or Office using WDH, I have some basic questions about it. After reading about the problems people are having with WDH, I have to be careful using this. The program doesn't seem to provide any guides or explanation. I would highly recommend that the developer adds a user guide somewhere. I mean a basic guide for people who have no idea what this program does. Or even just a one page wiki with a few paragraphs, or SOMETHING. At this point I'm not even sure what WDH does because it doesn't say what it does. - What does WDH do, EXACTLY? Yea I know it downloads updates, but that can mean anything. Does it download updates only from the microsoft website, or does it use other sources? Also, there are different kinds of updates, e.g. critical, important, etc. . I read somewhere about hotfixes too. What does it all mean? How do I decide what I need and what i dont? - How do I use WDH? - I've installed WDH on Win 7 x64 and Office 2010 with the latest updates from WU. Can I make WDH download ALL updates for a FRESH installation of Windows or Office? If WDH cannot do that, then what is the point of WDH? - Can I then backup those updates for my next installation, so I don't have to download them every time? This is the reason I'm even interested in this program. - What are the most common ways to break my installation with WDH? Good and bad practices. What about Service Packs? I've read about issues with SPs and updates. - I read about differences between WU and WDH. What are they and should I care? Alphawaves, please consider posting a guide on the forums, or a help file in the software itself, that answers these basic questions. I've noticed that many of these developers on sites like MDL create programs for people who already have extensive knowledge. I'm a basic Windows user who knows only how to press the download button on WU. Thank you for your help.
First, it's called WindowsHotfixDownloader, it's not an installed app, it just downloads the official windows and office updates you manually select from the lists I don't know what you mean by "break" but you have to install the updates yourself by dism command or use the W7UI, W8UI or W10UI (or the office update install scripts).
This is exactly what I meant in my last paragraph. Your response is meant for someone who understand what you're actually talking about. No idea what's a dism command or install scripts, or lists, or how to use WHD at all, and there is no explanation of any of this anywhere. I'm a newbie at this. You didn't really answer any of my questions, but I appreciate the quick response.
Enthousiast, thank you very much for your help and support. I can tell you are indispensable to the MDL community. If anyone ELSE can help me out with some guidelines or a link with info or tutorial, I would really appreciate it.
