hi burf, any sign of new windows update version 29 or 30? and will be there office update version 4? thanks for your hard work
There will be an updated installer, it's a work in progress There isn't a need for an updated script unless the update format changes in terms of the extract .msp files.
1) You can change the download directory updates? I want to download them in "my folder" but the program downloads in "my folder / updates / repository_name / Main Updates / Updates". Thx! 2) It is possible that the program does not delete obsolete updates?
Hi, atm updates folder is the main location for updates saved - regardless of any new location. I could add the option for a new folder location, this will be where the repository folders/updates will be saved to.. No it doesn't, I may change this..
Yes, windows 7/8 updates are language neutral and the office updates have all languages covered as well
Hello Comunity My program says, that the server is offline, i have add the permission to firewall mcfee, but nothig happens, is something i´m doing wrong? Thank you
Nothing to do with you. Just wait until the server is up again. @ Alphawaves. I think you should add the following to the first post (in RED and BOLD. You may choose your own wording): If the program says the server is offline then wait for it to return and dont report this. Should prevent quite a few similar posts about people asking why the server is offline.
hi, I downloaded the updates for office 2013 x64 and everything is ok, but when I go to install does not see them in the folder as it seeks files. msu.cab, while the updates are for Office. msp _ How do I install? thanks (the program is still great) cicciuz View attachment 24175
The hotfixes that are housed in the "Win 8.1 only" folder say they are incompatible with the Windows 8.1 RTM. However, KUC and Windows Update find them after just fine, but you know, why not try and cram as much preloading and automation into OSD as possible. Do you mean install them as a batch once they are all downloaded and stored locally? If so, I don't think so. If you mean how do you integrate them into an install image, look WHD's menu for an option called "Updates Integrator".
I simply cannot express in words the absolute usefulness of this tool for me. Great work and very easy to use. Just one query on office updates: I have updates from microsoft downloads which have of course the kb number in the file name. The updates downloaded by this utility are in a different name (they must be querying catalog.microsoft). The names are eg: access-x-none. Of course the file size for both should ideally be the same. If I am correct, I can still use this utility to install office 2010/2013 updates which have KB names in the file. It should be unlikely if it supports only the access-x-none type of files. Can I get online confirmation of what KB does for example access-x-none refer to. That way, I can delete duplicates. Thanks and regards again.
The KB article .exe files contain the .msp files, such as access-x-none.msp. Sometimes they may contain more than one .msp file, and there may be a KB article in one of the Office cumulative releases that contain say, access-x-none.msp and another .msp file, and another KB article that contains access-x-none.msp plus another .msp file. These .msp files are perfectly cumulative, that is, each newer release contains all the files of the previous releases of the .msp file, just later versions (and any new files necessary). It is for this reason that a repository of .msp files is much preferred, because it is very easy to keep track of! Also, one month there may be a .exe package with updates for more than one .msp package, and yet the following month it contains only one of the .msp packages, and the other one isn't updated. So, in this case you would need to store both KB .exe packages. With the .msp packages, it is very quick and easy to check the version number, see what is the latest, and to keep track of the updates. The .msp files in the repository are simply extracted from the .exe files.
Yes that is definitely the case as I extracted the KB file and got the msp file in a folder. Considering that I have downloaded the patches today for office 2010 today, should I do this in the future to avoid downloading the entire set say after 15 days. 1. Consider to download patches only after say today. 2. Copy new downloads to the original download folder and overwrite if prompted (so as to delete superseded updates). Thus access-x-none downloaded on Oct 2013 update will overwrite access-x-none downloaded on say Sep 2013 update. Thanks again for the tool and the clarification. I used to download patches as they become available on patch tuesday and over some months, some patches became redundant/superseded. I am now able to clean up patches and save space.
You have to go by the version number of the update, not the date. Sometimes updates are released later, but are in fact older than earlier released updates! Version number can be found by moving the mouse over the update, and in the window the version shows under 'Title:'. Alternatively, right click on the update, go to properties, then details tab, and the version will show at the top under 'Title'.
Thanks again. I think I have got enough info. Look forward to seeing your cricket team in India soon. No great love for the Aussie team but it is sad for the game of cricket for the Aussie team to perform as they have done. They will still cream India next year though. OT: when they had a surplus stock, they discarded good players in their mid-30s or good players after a poor performance. Now they have got a young team with players who misfire mote often than not.
