I made a stupid thing but found a bug. :)

I was cleaning some hard drive space and decided to delete the old Windows Hotfix Downloader folder as it was no use to keep it since the new WHDownloader is here but accidentally deleted the WHDownloader folder too.

I didn't wanted to download again all the updates so I figured out something. I selected one update from each folder of the selected list to recreate the folder structure. Than copied over all the updates that I downloaded with Win Toolkit's built in version of Downloader. Unfortunately the Win Toolkit built in Downloader not sort the updates for me so are a lot of superseded updates there. I reported it to Liam and still waiting for a solution.

Anyway, after the copy I refreshed the list to see if there are any new updates needed to download. The superseded ones are all moved to OLD folder as instructed by the ini file but are not showed in the program. The Superseded tab shows (0) even there are a lot of updates moved there.

Isn't it suposed to import the OLD folder content into the Superseded tab for each list?

Sorry for the lengthy explanation. I don't know how to put it short. :p

Hi, I'm integrating almost all of the updates downloaded by WHDownloader for Win7 x64. Using Win7x64 SP1u Spanish ISO.
Integration works fine, installation works fine, but Windows Update shows there are some updates to be downloaded that aren't listed in WHDownloader.
The "missing" updates that WU shows are:

    - KB2545698
    - KB2547666
    - KB2667402
    - KB2676562
    - KB2729094
    - KB2761217
    - KB2798162
    - KB2813347
    - KB2846960
    - KB2862966
    - KB2868626
    - KB2904266

I was wondering if this is ok, this updates are superseeded and WU hasn't been updated, they are really missing or I am doing something wrong?

    Yes, those updates are superseded
and No, WU will not be updated to skip them

Windows Update only offers published General and Security Updates, whereas WHDownloader provide newest hotfixes/updates that supersedes most of the published updates

for Windows 7, it's recommended not to use WHDownloader and WU together, use one of them only
but you still can install those updates to satisfy WU

I'll stick to WHDownloader as I like to have the very latest updates. Thanks a lot!

Hi ianymaty, the old and superseded functions in WHDownloader are entirely separate. Superseded will auto search for and compare downloaded updates with latest lists. They will then be moved to Superseded structure directory and also added to Superseded list in WHDownloader.
Old function will move any old updates not on latest lists and moved to old structure directory (if selected in ini file).
    I wouldn't mix WHDownloader and Wintoolkit. :)

    Hi Alphawaves.

Are you saying that is there a Superseded folder too? I don't remember it. How you create it?

Is there an easy explanation of the difference between old and superseded? AFAIK old is not needed, superseded is not needed.

Old / Superseded updates should go in the same place in my opinion. As long as it's not on current list any other update belongs in that folder.

What are you trying to say by "I wouldn't mix WHDownloader and Wintoolkit." Win Toolkit uses the same lists as WHDownloader so the result should match. Only that for now it not sorts out the old ones for me, I don't know why. As I explained, I just copied the updates to the new place so I don't have to download them again. Office2010-x86, Office2013-x86, Windows7-x86 and Windows7-x64 updates are above 6 GB to download.

    Thank you for your time.

Your right, i think ill remove the old, by not mixing I mean wintoolkit doesn't have the same search structure when old/superseded is used. So those updates ive noticed are not moved to the correct category/folder structure.

Ah, OK. I wasn't copy over the old/superseded folder. Only the content of the current updates to corresponding folders. I did know that time as there are a lot of old/superseded updates in those folders that needs to be sorted out.

If you read again (with a little more attention) post #1692 you'll (probably) understand what I mean.

The sorting was done by WHDownloader so I expected that the moved files to be reflected in Superseded tab.

The result is that not even one superseded file was reflected even if the moved files was as follows:

    Office2010-x86 OLD - 27 Files, 3 Folders
    Office2013-x86 OLD - 59 Files, 2 Folders
    Windows7-x64 OLD - 292 Files, 64 Folders
    Windows7-x86 OLD - 251 Files, 65 Folders

A superseded search will not look in any ---------OLD folder. Only the current list shown in combobox.. ie: doodlupydu\updates\Windows8.1-x64
Maybe i should make this a little simpler in next version for end user.. ;)

I can understand that but all those files were in the current updates folder and WHDownloader moved them to OLD folder so I think they should be reflected as moved at least in that session.

Anyway, I'm happy that the program keeps only the needed files and if you think that is no problem in what I reported, just leve it like that.

    Thank you.

Please bear with me if it's off topic question,
Can somebody guide me on how to uninstall superseded updates from a live system?
I used to use KUC before and I think the same uninstall feature was present in previous versions of
WHDownloader too. But now I don't know how to remove superseded updates from system.
Any reply would be much appreciated

Currently there are no regularly updated automated uninstallers for superseded updates, but you can use abbodi1406's repo list change log (found in his signature) to manually uninstall updates he's listed as superseded.

Go to Control Panel->Programs and Features->View installed updates. Use the "Search Installed Updates" section in the upper right corner to quickly locate the KB #'s one at a time, and then just double-click them to uninstall.

    He/We can also use wusa:
    Code:
    wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:2934018 /quiet /norestart
2934018 is just an example for using the kb number

but this (sometimes) doesn't uninstall the update
