Tried Mint on a old laptop & desktop, both well over specified for a minimum install. got to the desktop after about ten minutes. No install button, re downloaded both 32 & 64 bit iso, used cdburner xp freeware to burn onto Verbatim dvd rw & also dvd -r. burn option was "verify data", no error was seen & both the same result as stated above. Not impressed, but Ubuntu works but much slower than Mint latest.
Well it is MATE a Gnome 2 fork. Mint is actually a modded Ubuntu, but I noticed that recently they have become a bit unstable. Ubuntu MATE isn't unstable especially the 15.04 release. Ubuntu with Unity is a resource hog.
I just upgraded to Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela 64 bit. So far really enjoying it. It comes pretty well ready to go right out of the box. So far very stable. Running very smooth.
i tested it on grandmas e6410 nvidia video and runs smooth. on the older compaq 6410P.. NOPE.. CINNAMON DESKTOP CRASHED. Maybe needs ati/amd updates
