Seems to be a lot of confusion in this thread as i meant official as in coming from a legit site as in direct from microsoft or one of their affiliates partners and not a warez or torrent site, Not official as in one released to the general public. Up until a couple of days ago you could put "windows 8 official direct download links" in at google and the top site took you to a MDL webpage that not only had the eval links but an link for Windows 8 pro x64 RTM direct from microsoft and as i never bookmarked the page i have no idea if it was MSDN,MSFN,dlservice or digital river or if it was the link you get when you purchase it because if i had i wouldn't be asking. Now when you put it in at google you no longer get any MDL webpages and a load of DMCA links. So there was a direct link to get it without going to outside sources.
Well i tried it by the download installer and the key was ok but when it connected to microsoft it just kept saying that it can't connect right now. I was logged in as Admin with UAC and firewall turned off but no luck, so someone else will have to try it to see.
I would use to download an RTM for installation. It has both: Core and Pro. As I wrote abovce, after downloading for Laptop and Desktop, both 64bit and have to see 2 different ISO File Size, I downloaded the RTM and installed from them without any problems.
There are no official Win 8 downloadlinks for the public. This time in opposite to Win 7 there´s only MSDN. As Tito stated correctly: So either you get from any source by comparing the hashes or get Eval and convert using xDelta method. Always nice to see people who want to use things illegally but leave all work to others.
My information coming from my previous source updated info today: It seems that the generic key does not work any more but only a genuine key. So brother MS cut this way as well - or there is only a little malfunction at this very moment. We will see
Never knew Google or MDL magically gave information from a mystical place , i always assumed the information on webpages are the work of others. Yeah i gave up and i'm just going to stick to a hash checked RTM
Do we specifically need the wzor version as i was going by the hash? SHA1: 1CE53AD5F60419CF04A715CF3233F247E48BEEC4
NO! What you need is that the SHA-1 hash is exactly the same as published by Microsoft! Just the real RTM version in 32bit or 64bit depend on your own requirements.
That is great to hear as i was reading the other day about the wzor version having an unusual hash value hence why i started the thread about if it was possible for fake hash values.
