All editions are on every DVD. They use this file to tell the installer which edition to setup. By removing this file you will be given an option of which edition you want to install when you boot from the DVD.
i've tried deleting the ei.cfg file and saving it with ultraiso but it won't let me save any image file above 300mb. what to do?
You don't need to save the iso with UltraISO you can delete the ei.cfg file and just burn the dvd on the fly
at what speed should i burn it at? i tryed using 8x and when i went to install it it stopped at expanding files. a window came up and said the file i'm using might be corrupt or missing files. what should i do now?
Burn Speed Hi, You should always burn ISO images at the slowest writing speed, as burning them at maximum speed can be problematic. You should also use the verify option to check the disk has been successfully written. All this may take a little longer, but you will end up with a disc that has less chance of having read problems, which can be a real pain if its a Windows installation DVD. All the best, Shane.
well i had trouble installing the dvd. a window popped up and said the files on the disc might be corrupt. i burned the disc at 8x speed. does anyone have a direct link to a non corrupted windows 7 ultimate retail version?
Redownload or change media. Sometimes a media change will make a difference. Any quality burner can burn these images at max...The slowest speed trick is an older problem with older burners IMHO...A good copy program is also a benefit. CDBurnerXP is a fantastic free program.. Test the ISO in a VM before the burn..If it installs in VM, then the problem is the copy process..
