Like the old saying "ignorance is bliss" Sure don't go any where don't do anything and you really wont need a antivirus program. Start reading looking into things "hacked, cracked" and then don't protect your system..ok Most people think they are keeping the hackers out yet who are you and what to you have to offer? Nothing, so no one is out to hack you. The best place to hide is in plain sight. So not having one ..yeah your the smart one..keep telling yourself that.
windows defender is fine than any other AV as after all it is very light weight and it asks you before taking action... I like that the most
I am now using Kaspersky on Desktop and MCAfee inside the Laptop... On my concept, Microsoft solutions for virus is really bad since their operating system has a lot of loopholes designed for attack. They do not know about their Operating System and the paid antivirus solutions many times is best that any M$ Defender solution.
I use McAfee Security System it came loaded with my Dell Laptop and I also use Malwarebytes Anti Malware
I used ESET Smart Security 4 on my DELL desktop at home on windows 7 and now using it at work with windows 8. No infections so since I used it. I used Avira free and I got infected and upset with it, infections with infected USB were/are the worst.
Doesn't that cause problems? 1GB on a 486 is weird, but anyway... 1) What happens with latency? I don't know how that is with a hardware firewall, but this one seems to intercept all packages, check them and send to the next node. 2) Is the 486 fast enough if you're downloading fast? I must say I don't have any experience with firewalls. Maybe that's a very low cost job (recourse wise), so the 486 might be able to do that without problems. 2) You still only have a firewall. It doesn't scan downloaded files. If you download a virus or infected rar-file for example, the firewall won't detect it. Firewalls are good for malicious network traffic/connections. That's what they are invented for. Firewalls don't stop/disarm viruses. BTW: what kind of magic mainboard did you find that supports something as low as a 486, but on the other hand supports 1GB of RAM? As for myself I'm using Defender. Haven't had any virus problems for the last 5 years. Some years ago I was using avast, but I immediately switched to MSE as early as the first beta was released. It was a natural decision to use defender in Windows 8.
Intel P4 3.06GHz is not a 486 the way you describe in your original post and don't be accusing me for something which i didn't do! if you got proof report it! and i don't play game.
Normally I would fully agree with you! But: if the same person/Member is accusing an other for to post BS, not once only several times in the same thread and din't stop with that, didn't has the accused member the right for defend himself and clear in that very thread the facts?! If you like to judge, go ahead and read ALL relevant post's from both member first to get the required info, get the required technical infos and also take in account the style and wording before even start thinking about right and/or wrong!
