I use ZoneAlarm Pro... it is good, and also alerts me when some application tries to load at startup... it´s like Comodo... but zone alarm is game friendly

I use Avira Premium Security Suite. It has all in 1 security with Antivirus + AntiSpyware + Firewall + Web Shield.

Use comodo internet security suit. It has awesome firewall and antivirus and best of all it is free for home use.

Windows 7 firewall with outbound protection enabled atm. I think I will test out Comodo also because of the good reviews it has been getting.

Windows 7 firewall is all you need. Programs like ZA etc are really just snake oil. Sure, they popup a lot of alerts asking if you think it is
ok to let a certain program out. If you knew the answer to that popup, you could have just told W7 firewall to block. Plus, these programs
add services which leaves one more thing that can be exploited. Patches and upgrades for what reason?

If you don't like to have a separate user and admin account - go to blackviper
dot com w7 and turn any unneeded services off. Then open
winows firewall and uncheck exceptions. Find a program called RollbackRX (hotfile, etc) and R-Wipe&Clean and wipe junk after every adventure
in the wrong places lol. Alot of us do it.

Only run all possible bad stuff and save serials from kgens etc in notepad to an unprotected drive. Roll yourself back on a simple reboot then
install the sw and the serial from saved notepad info/

Also a freeware app called Currports to view any connections. Turn off showing of ports without remote addresses in this prog.

Use MS Security Essentials for AV.

Now enjoy your computer that you paid for without all the snake-oil feel-good slowdowns.

Another good freeware app to install is Universal Extractor. I've extracted keygen etc - of recent
a Winrar kg. Inside was a no-no. MS SE picked it up and I allowed because I knew the I could delete
the bad file part that got extracted.

I'm a rouge coder in my own world. Rarely interact with the outside world due to I am whole without
the need for interaction. But, I like this place! Any questions I will try to answer as soon as I can.

    Love you all,

I use Comodo Firewall v.5 along with Avast Antivirus.Very low on resources (very old PC) and feel safer than with all in one paid security suite!

I have used Zone Alarm paid and free for over 15 years.
The last few years I've had a problem with huge numbers of temp files put in by ZA.
Now, I just fought and fought to remove SandBlastBackup from my HDDs and their partitions.
It was probably installed by The ZA anti-ransomware app, maybe the freeware.
After several intense hours, I was able to finally remove the SandBlast folders.
I have removed ZA and everything associated with it.

I have some other anti-ransomware apps and a good AV.
I'm thinking Firewalls may have outlived their usefulness.
I'm going to get by without one for a while and see what happens.
