[SOLVED] Which SLIC is being used?

I found this link: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...uests/page4233?p=711881&viewfull=1#post711881 that has the bios mod I need but I see that it says SLIC ASUS, does that mean its going to load a ASUS SLIC into my bios?

Also, which bios "type" do I have, I read that there is three, AWARD, AMI, and PHOENIX?
I have the Biosversion.exe and SLIC_ToolKit_V3.2.exe which both point at AMI but the amitool163 tool isn't working for me. I'm sure that I am using it wrong so I will continue to read the forums.

    UPDATE:

1 Read that I need to extract the files from the exe my board manufacture provides for the bios update, tried 7zip, doesn't extract.

2 Found find_gz.exe and it doesn't appear to do anything other than read the exe.

3 A little scared, Ran the modded bios from my link and now I am about to restart.

4 okay so I see that it does add the asus slic to my bios..
now how do I mod the bios file myself?

Its AMI EFI (Aptio), you need to use this to mod it.

    1. You need to use this for extraction. Alternatively you can download the plain ROM file.
    2. find_gz.exe is useful for extracting Samsung bios roms from their updates.

    :)

    Thanks for the reply.

So I used the tool and it worked, thanks.

Now, is there asrock files for this or just the ones I already have. I have looked around and have several 2.1 slic bin files (no asrock bins) as well as XRM-MS Files that are asrock labeled but match to the asus ones extactly.

Can I reinstall the original bios back by running the original file that I got from the manufactures website?

There is no ASRock SLIC+cert available (yet).

Thanks gents. I did restore the original bios.
To bad one for asrock isn't out already, I am picky about that sort of thing I guess.

As you can see here; there might be a possibility of the existence of ASRock SLIC.

Btw, you can use any SLIC of your choice.

I sort of figured that when I seen the asus slic in the asrock bios

Thanks for bringing the laptop to my attention, I will try to search for that now.
