If you're installing free programs or shareware, be warned of the Pay Per Install beast. Always tick off the accompanying PPI-ware in the installation package, as companies are paid by e.g. Babylon and Conduit to name but a few. That's the way a popular free package still can generate revenue for the developer. PPI Installs slow down the system and some may be even considered harmful to your system.
