They work together so some programs will trigger the Windows Firewall and some the WFC notification to block or allow and feel free to set your own rules in Windows Firewall
Have you read my (and others) previous posts about Comodo, ZoneAlarm, Private Firewall, etc? Don't you have anything to comment about our suggestions? If not then we could stop trying to help you...
What I can say, is Comodo Firewall works fine on Windows 10. I install only the firewall, not Antivirus, but use HIPS and Sandbox with I found great. Latest version is 8.40.5068
Indeed, I also understand that some leading security suite developers are restricting themselves to the AV alone, because the Windows firewall does a good job. The main weakness of the built-in firewall is considered to be that it is one-way, only protecting from nasties coming in, but once they are in they can send to base what the like. On the other hand, the program control of this firewall might be considered as the “other way”. I even remember reading that two-way firewalls don’t offer a real advantage, but I can’t find the source.
Indeed, intrusions are like marriage - ones outside want to get in, ones inside want to get out. Except exfiltration techniques can get pretty clever, much better than having to move to Reno.
The stock FW is just useless to protect the users from most common treats, that aren't coming from the outside
Windows Firewall Control works very well once you get the know how ... you can define your own rules, export them or import them...
What is a good firewall that is similar in functionality to Windows Firewall Control (WFC is all I've used for years) but allows me to use Windows Subsystem for Linux without allowing all outbound connections from all apps? From WFC's help files
Comodo Firewall is badass and with its auto-containment sandboxing feature setup correctly I don't feel the need for an anti-virus or anything like that either. It isn't slow and I don't feel that it's really bloated either.
I currently use tiny firewall tinywall.pados.hu/ so far no issues. You can set rules for software like firefox.exe with it.
