Win 10 pro x 2. I have 1 win7 ultimate license and win 8/8.1 pro, both OEM editions. i installed win 7 on a Parallels VM, upgraded using 10240, shows activated. Question is, can Microsoft see the real hardware NIC MAC and CPU ID through the VM? I'll find out after the 29th when I try a new VM directly with win 10 10240 ISO.
Probably Home and Pro depending on what's on the computer in question. I'm just not going to go into obscure copies of windows that may or may not be a headache when they decide on further validation down the line. Spending another few hundred bux to upgrade to enterprise doesn't seem worth it to me.
Now is probably the time to start moving my systems to Pro... I am eligible for free upgrades to Home (legally) on 2 PCs (the only ones that are 100% legally licensed to Windows 8.1). For others, I will be acquiring keys through MSDN.
Well, from what I heard, they won't sell Enterprise to individuals, it's only available via Software Insurance (but I'm not sure, maybe someone can prove me right or wrong on this), but let's say even if Enterprise was available for individuals, I guess it won't be the LTSB SKU. For now, I use Pro, from which I can defer upgrades just like with Enterprise. Enterprise is really only worth and compelling if it's the LTSB version (N or not N), otherwise it doesn't make so much of a difference. I don't know... if Enterprise LTSB is impossible to get legally and the KMS solution will still work, I'm tempted to use it on my "production" PC that only qualifies for Pro (production means I don't want to go through the hassle of re-installing or upgrading Windows every other week or month, I'm in need of a reliable and running system.) But for now I'm fine with Pro. Home... out of the question, simply because I got no such license to upgrade.
So the "N" versions doesn't come with Windows Media Player, that's the only difference? I may be going with this for all future installs as I always use MPC-HC + KCP Codec (best video player, hands down) and Spotify.
It's also missing related components as codecs and more. As i gamer i always refused them to not have more trouble as on Windows anyways.
