I have a Techsoup account so I guess that since forced updates are a ball and chain on pro, I will try to get my hands on an Enterprise N version. I don't see the advantage of LTSB
Yes, MPC-BE with LAV Filters will decode any video format you throw at it. I recommend using the madVR video renderer, Super XBR upscaling for best results if you have a decent GPU - madVR features different upscaling algorithms including upscaling to 4K at a quality that rivals $15,000 hardware upscalers. madVR also automatically can set your display refresh rate to match the framerate of the video. So if your display supports 24Hz and you play a film (which are usually 23.976 FPS) it will switch your display to 24Hz, then back to 60 or whatever it was at when you close MPC-BE. Foobar2000 for audio. There are plug-ins for more obscure formats. Each one depends on libraries within their own folders for decoding, not on the system.
I get headaches all the time from my eye problems so I can't really listen to any decent music or I get them really bad.
Don't fret, mate. Every OS is a little glitchy at launch. A lot of people even had problems with Win7 and that OS is a beast.
That Guitar string did not only hurt your eye but it also caused a flash in your brain like a snapshot of that moment when the string broke. There is no escape off this situation unfortunately, only time turns this matter down to a certain point where you will be able to listen to music again without problems (or only minor) I'm only talking about the psycho effex, not the damage itself which I cannot see or deal with ... Sad to say but this is the way it is. (contact me if you like to hear more on this)
On hindsight, I think windows 8 would have gone off to a good start had microsoft not forced the 'tablet' interface on consumers. It should simply have been a choice on install, desktop mode install or touch mode. In my experience at the power user level, even windows Vista was good with the appropriate tweaks here and there. Windows 7 just got it all mostly right both for regular consumers, enterprise and devs/enthusiasts. I do like the core of windows 10. I do believe in time all the tweaks and stripping down will be known. That was what I thought when MSoft said this was going to be the last OS as we know it. IT would be nice if it had been modular, so you can build your own type of OS you want from components. Like a more 'fancy' form of Windows embedded. Ten years from now is a long time for an OS, we'll see what happens.
Heh... there's no PTSD-like symptoms or anything, but there is a lot of psychological aspects to it. I get bothered by the eyesight and distracted by it while trying to do other stuff. Physically, it shouldn't cause me as much problems as it does. A lot of ppl just get an eyepatch and get on with their lives.
If I have a regular En US Core 8.1 will I be able to download Home N? Also what is the size difference between Home N and Home Single Language ?
It's not that much different post-install; maybe like 200-300mb It's not worth going out of your way for.
