Windows 10 is a no match for Windows 7 for esport quick reflex gaming. Windows 10 is only playable with registry tweaks to turn game dvr off and even then it has worse performance compared to 7.

To be honest, unless there is a specific service or program that a particular build has, they're pretty much all the same.
If you do extensive stress testing on each build, it could vary for each different type of application.
On one build you might get more fps in old win7 games. On another you might get better performance on dx12 or vulcan games.

In either situation, the benefit will be minimal and generally not worth bothering trying to adhere to a specific build.
Is 2-3 more fps on an old game really that important if you hate the build or are constantly annoyed at the appx programs?
I personally use the latest 2019 LTSC version and just get it out of my head to obsess about the minute details.
I'm not saying that performance doesn't matter. It does. It's just not the only thing that matters.

not really. LTSB/C versions are perfect for old PCs that were not officially tested for Win10 compatibility, haha :p

I run 1909 Enterprise on a 2013 Dell budget laptop and it works fine. 1809 is garbage and LTSC just makes it worse. But of course that's simply my opinion and opinions are subjective.

    sit down u know nuthin'

I have i5 7400 and rx 580 so when i want to play opengl titles i install ubuntu and get 300% better performance than on any windows cuz of amd drivers when i want to play any directx game i play win 7 obliterates win 10 ( i play tibia competitively fps difference 500~ on win 10 to 800~ on win 7). The only advantage win 10 has is dx 12 but is it really an advantage when win 7 with dx12 support would leave nothing but a hole from where win 10 was in the past. There must be a change on a "coronavirus scale" to windows 10 to make it possible to call it a gamer os.

Serious hardcore esport gamer can run even lower hardware than this it shows you have no idea what your talking about. Esport titles are not that demanding. Its rather real time reaction time that it limited by windows 10 game dvr on entrance and other hidden stuff that eats up bandwith is what makes windows 10 worst os for gaming by far.

For me the best version is 1809 Enterprise LTSC hands down, or if you have an old pc 2016 LTSB.
They are both stable, no store or crappy apps installed by default which means less storage space used and more importantly less memory used.

Running 1909 Enterprise on an Dell Inspiron 3521 2013 edition with a Core i3-3227U @ 1.90Ghz, 8GB of DDR3 memory and installed on a 500GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD. It runs superbly. Just saying.

I have seen people doing some really strange things with old computers, and old operating systems. To some, it is like a game -- who can do the most with the least. If you're really trying to get usability out of some old hardware, Linux is probably your best bet. As far as I'm concerned, I can get decent fairly modern hardware for a really small amount of money, so I just run 1909 Enterprise and don't sweat it.

In my day job, I support scientific applications running under RHEL and Windows 10, so I keep a copy of RHEL running in a VM here at the house.

I realized quite a while ago (decades), that THE most important thing was your internet connection. As long as your hardware was adequate, internet speed, internet speed, internet speed.

Added for clarification: my main rig is running an Intel i5 7600K, which is what I would call decent fairly modern hardware. I could probably drop off quite a bit from that cpu, and not notice much difference in my day to day operations. On the other hand, when I moved from Comcast 150 meg internet to AT&T fiber at 1 gig, that changed my life.

If you aren't just an antiques collector then 2004 20H2.
Personally I use on three computers 21H1 and on all the other 20H2.
