Nothing wrong with the old, if you like it revert back. Some people like the new and some people like the old.

Ladies and gents, this happens every time a new OS is released.
People test the new OS using old benchmarks on outdated API languages using non-optimized drivers.

I know a lot of you are having knee-jerk reactions to seeing this data, but name calling is not the appropriate response.
How about discussing WHY things might appear worse on the new OS instead of jumping straight to insults?

I can think of a few reasons:
1- Services running making the cache slightly slower
2- Defender/AV running slowing down file access
3- Drivers are still new and not optimized to maximize old API performance on the different OS
4- Different programs installed slowing down registry and hard drive access

I'm not really a benchmark expert, but cmon. Be fair. Would you rather only hear opinions you agree with?

Murphy, are you planning on releasing another iteration of W7 packed with the newest updates sans the first 3 that prompts for W10 update?

I could, but it's never really been my thing to discriminate on the updates. I always just do whatever satisfies WU short of installing updates that aren't publicly available.
For instance, my June ver didn't have 3035583 (small update that turns on the update process)
In fact I've never included it since it's not available publicly.

I could do it either way, but I've never really been one to discriminate.

    Yes
I came to check out what was in here, maybe see if there was a real complaint about Windows 10.
Maybe I missed something about Windows 10 over the last two years of using it.
Yes there has been some problems with it, some even major. But with the help of tester in the start and then the insiders giving there views.
A lot of the problems have been fixed.

This thread is an opinion thread, so yes: opinions are appropriate.
We do, however, have an abusive language policy, so lets keep it above the belts, ladies and gents.
Making fun of someone's opinion is one thing. Calling them names is quite another.

Keep the debate about the ideas, rather than the people and we'll be fine :)

Because there's something threatening about someone else's opinions to this person. The less you know about what other people think, the more likely you are to make one decision, and not another. Smorgan seems very invested in the idea that a person should make an uninformed opinion based only on their own experiences, and not be influenced by other people's "opinions". This is only one small step away from prohibiting the expression of (in this case) negative opinions about Windows 10, because they might influence someone else to have a negative opinion about Windows 10.

This person is a classic Statist. They've already determined what is "right", are willing to allow other people to have a "choice" to have their own opinion (as long as that opinion is the correct one) and they are also willing to suppress the expression of someone else's opinion because it is not "right", and only because it might influence someone else to have non-State sanctioned opinion.

Obviously NOT an American. Probably from some 3rd world toilet where their government indoctrinates the population into believing the correct way (with appropriate punishment for those that do not). Note how comfortable he is with the open expression of the willingness to suppress dissident opinions that are not in Microsoft's favor. Does he WORK for Microsoft?

Probably not. Most Statists have been indoctrinated and programmed from such and early age that they instinctively operate their programs automatically, and for no reward, in fact when you deconstruct the socialist/fascist mindset, they usually support the State and have a lower quality of life than if they lived free with a minimum of State control. Sheep herd together, run from what scares them, and do what they are told. And then tell others to do the same. Eventually they degenerate to the point that they will actually identify one of their own and sacrifice them to the wolves, in an effort to save themselves. There is no low so low that a sheep will not go, in order to maintain the illusion of being alive, instead of being a cowardly sheep merely marking time until they themselves are also slaughtered.

Here the Statist openly admits that he determines the level of acceptability of someone else's opinions. Also note how the word "opinionated" is a negative. Any opinions at all are bad. They threaten him, make him feel small and insignificant, and he wants to be LARGE and important and in charge of what other people are allowed to think. Seems to be a common quality for indoctrinated 3rd worlders. I think the shared motivation is those that most-accurately reflect the State-mandated dogma are given the power to enforce those standards on others.

All criticism of Windows 10 must be placed within the context of "It's brand new". The dangerous flaw in these stupid Statists "reasoning" (it's not reasoning, but blind and stupid sycophantism) is that it ignores the highly unusual means by which Microsoft is getting the world's population infected with their malware. By the time these Statist's "beta testing" is over, the whole world will be infected and it will be too late to do anything about it.

This is just another example of what happens when retards are given the power to control their intellectual superiors. No one is uplifted when they are in charge; that's a direct threat to their power and control. The only way that they can maintain their own power and social position is by dumbing everyone down to their level, reducing the variables in the argument to only those that are advantageous to them, and delaying awareness of other, more important factors until it is too late to do anything about it.

Those benchmarks were taken recently, leaving Windows 10 out of the picture, they still show Windows 7 beating Windows 8 which is supposed to have better support for new hardware and Windows 8.1 and its drivers are mature by now, yet it still loses in every single benchmark, so please, don't give me this drivers are still not optimized argument. And on a side note, developers have had almost a year to developer drivers for Windows 10. Stop being an MS advocate.

You're right. They've had a whole 6 days since going live. It's a completely unrealistic assertion that there hasn't been enough time.

You're not getting my point man, I'm saying even comparing Windows 8.1 to 7 today 7 will perform better in every aspect and benchmark, even though Windows 8 is a mature OS now with mature drivers. So me waiting till Windows 10 gets better drivers from the OEMs doesn't look very promising. IT seems to be optimized on paper for new hardware but probably the amount of bloat and telemetry data collection is what makes it perform slower in those benchmarks.

How could it on older software? The OS does more, it slows them down.
Each OS is meant for newer and newer hardware. These newer hardware will always perform better on same API using older OS.

Win10 won't be an advantage to use until games use DX12 api.

would be interesting to see the benchmarks without Telemetry enabled in LTSB. It is a rather a "lite" workstation/client.
