I'd like to answer, but I don't understand these sentences that may or may not have an actual question.
@Margusx: I assume that you mean that data collection is not a big issue for you. I can respect that. Just be careful. Also, I understand what you mean about games and Linux. There are some games for Linux, but not what Windows users are used to seeing. More work has to be done in that area. If you follow the advice of the people around here who have been using Windows 10, I think that you can set it up to work just fine. It's not for some of us, but not everyone is worried about spying as much as some are. BTW: Welcome to MDL
Yeah. .. except that it's not Linux but manufacturers not writing drivers for Linux, as we know, thank to M$...
Whenever you see an user with a desktop apeing macos, is very likely you're facing an idiot. Better to use your bandwidth for something else.
If you really want to switch, but still have a dependency on lots of apps, you can always dual boot by installing Ubuntu (or Debian/Fedora/openSUSE) alongside Windows. The trick is always to make a separate partition for Linux and always install it after Windows. If you install Windows after Linux, it will overwrite the MBR and just keep itself there so you won't be able to boot into your linux partition (unless you boot with a LiveCD and then mount your linux /boot partition and install grub on your /dev/sda separately).
Good & informative OP. As I heard it put in a nutshell, Linux is only free if your time is worthless.
By the same token, I wish I had a nickel for every hour I spent re-installing Windows 98SE. Or trying to figure out why Windows XP wouldn't boot. Or waiting for Windows 7 to find, download, and install system updates. Or trying to upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 via the store and having it fail.
When 98 or XP were around, I was happy to have a working computer at all- With Win 7, I have never run unto a problkem that I did not cause myself. Updating 7 is simple, I thought everyone on MDL knew why... Every time I used one or another versions of Linux I had to spend my time being insulted on Linux Forums, because I dared not to know something and the learn something new every second day- If pople consider their computer THE content of their life, that is fine with me. I simpky want to use mine... Win 7, with an SSD, an i5 and a VPN are perfectly fine for everything I can imagine.
People like you deserves all the crap and the spyware included in Windows... But in the meantime you can ask yourself the following question. "if MS becomes rich at your expense, who is really the poor man then ?"
With all due respect, lets not turn this forum into what the Windows 10 forum has become... keep the facebook comments on facebook - MDL has still a bit of rep to maintain, not so?
