i'm using dell inspiron 15r n5110 now i install windows 8.1 pro wmc x64 wifi not working Taskbar - wifi indicates ( Not connected - Connectio available) in charm bar - No connection available my deiver model - Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 dell didn't provide any driver for windows 8.1 x64 for this model i tried windows 7, 8 drivers not working and tried official site not working
I have the same problem, no WiFi connection. I installed 8.1 enterprise on a Toshiba Satellite A75-S211 (thanks to Jan1 for the Nx patch) I activated with MTK B2. I love the new 8.1 because it seems to be much faster. It works great when hooked up via cable. Qualcomm Atheros AR5004G wireless network adapter. Driver version 10.0.0.270 When I look at the properties of the device is says - This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. This device was working when I was on windows 7 enterprise I don't know if it has to do with the tap adapter that MTK installed or maybe the patching done by the Jan1 program (NX, remove winload, etc.)? Do I have to do anything to the router so the laptop can find it? Thanks, and I love MDL
Got my problem fixed I had to install wifi drivers for windows 7 (even though I'm running 8.1). This has been a lot of fun trying to solve problems on these old machines. Thanks to all the info here on MDL (a lot of reading from a lot of people)
had the same issue on a friend's Levono Q190 mini desktop.. it came installed with Win8 but he upgraded to Win 8.1 and had no wifi... Lenovo's Win8.1 drivers did not work (for an atheros wifi card, i believe).. had to reinstall (a couple times, deleting files manually finally) Win7 or 8's drivers to get it to work..
