Detection is right the low memory and low graphics is going to make your FPS really low so it wont be as enjoyable. Vista isn't the greatest, but 7 HP would be better for you.

COD4 is one of the very good games and at the lowest detail and resolution, you wouldn't be able to enjoy it at all. I have an old Vista SP2 machine with 2 GHz C2D, 2 GB of RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon X1800, and I get just little less (around 25-30fps) than satisfactory resolution and texture detail. That's proper gaming in my point of view. If you wanna play to its full, then I would recommend a Nvidia GTX460 or 560 and at least 4 GB of RAM in case of vista. Though you may get a bit better experience in XP SP3 with AV software disabled.

Technically, it will run COD4, but as people already mentioned the gameplay would suffer considerably. You would have to settle for a very low resolution in order to get a 'playable' frame rate and I am not sure you will enjoy playing it under those circumstances o_O

640x480 res, no shadows, no AA, and it "might" be playable. Also note that you might get additional performance from switching it from Shader Model 3.0 to 2.0, but idk.

Good luck though if you try it :)
