I have a modded bios with lenovo slic 2.1 I have 2 hard discs on my pc, one with windows 7 ultimate x64, the other with xp professional which is using a crack at the moment, but really needs a re-install. If I make a self-activating xp cd using the instructions elsewhere on this forum, will it work ok with the slic 2.1 in my bios?
I'm NOT the best to answer that, but afaik, yes! I modded my bios to 2.1 and XP was pre-activated (replacing the oembios files from install source and using the matching cereal) Good luck!

Windows XP is completely independent of any SLIC in your BIOS so you'll be fine. Only Vista and Windows 7 require a SLIC (for SLP versions anyway).
Xp Uses SLP (Slic) 1.0 Vista & Vista Sp1 Uses SLP (Slic) 2.0 Vista Sp2 & Windows 7 Uses SLP (Slic) 2.1 So you will need to have SLP (Slic) 1.0 included with your modded 2.1 Slic for Xp to Activate. I have a few HP's the Came with SLP (Slic) 2.0, but they also activate Windows Xp as well because they also Have SLP (Slic) 1.0 included. I have a friend who just brought a new PC that has a SLP (Slic) 2.1, it will activate all vista's and Windows 7, but will not activate Xp. Some of the Modded Bios I have found have all 3 SLIC's, but I have not run into any that are Factory 2.1 that will activate XP.

No it will not work if the string in the bios is not present in a valid location. You need the SLP 1.0 string for the OEM you wish to activate in the bios..SLIC 2.1 does not count..
