Classic start menu all the way, all I think is required is one simple tick during install. Install touch screen metro yes or NO and isolate the kid stuff from the business stuff. That will satisfy all and will not be a total back down by M$ which appears to be a bit of a problem for the kids that now work there. They should also get rid of the jump hoops to take control of your computer this has become way too much in windows 8 and UAC slider does not really even work anymore. Yes I know M$ we are all too dumb to protect our own data and you need to help us by hiding the fixes for installing unsigned drivers and modifying our files deep in the registry. It does take a lot long the set up windows 8 to run like a desktop PC (for intelligent users) and therefore business will not adopt it. Regards
used win 8 for three days . went back to win 7 . thought they fixed start in win 8.1 . Downloaded 3.6gb file twice , first one got corrupted . install , still same, used one day back to win 7. In XP one needs to load all the Drivers , Win 7 has almost all driver except Realtek Audio driver. Install and ready to go . Not trying win 8 any more. Just one question , what happens when the support stops ? Does it become free !
People get hung up on numbers and don't take in the overall picture. In Win7 you could have 100fps for a good portion of the time and then 10fps every time it reads from the hard disk. In 8.x you might have lower fps on older games, but it also handles file operations a lot better, leading to a smoother overall experience. Given that some tests actually perform better on Win8.x, typically dx11 games, I'd have to say that it's not the OS that's to blame, but rather the old dx9 API. Things will improve now that the xb and ps4 have come out supporting the new graphics features. The old consoles were holding a lot of the pc folks back for quite some time because none of the developers wanted to put in the time and effort to support dx11 since it wasn't used on the consoles.
Will continue to use Windows 7. I don't like the whole Microsoft account crap with Windows 8 and 8.1 and I don't feel comfortable with the large amounts of information that is sent out by Windows that I am not in control of.
I am using a 7loader activated Windows 7 Ultimate WITHOUT any weird Service Packs whatsoever and with a permanent Office 2010 as well. I don't like post-Windows 8 either... Microsoft will have to make a good desicion about Windows 9... I hope...
Better question should be, whether it is useful or recommendable in any way to run Vanilla 7 online... .
Just Bing/Google "Windows 7 extremezone" or something like that. I can't tell you more, because I believe it violates the rules of this forum. So, back on topic. Yes, I use Windows 7 vanilla And without a AV too. As I can't make up my mind in which Anti-virus which is the best for a home user like myself
LOL..How random is that? I think we will see a few leaks over the next few weeks... in fact this may be the most interesting //Build/ for a while..
Windows 9 will probably be too buggy. Bet it will be nice when it is Windows 9.5 - has a nice ring to it.
In today's cyber world the change is faster then the time machine. Today we have to change with time in the cyber world when we want to all new amazing innovation in hardware or software in my time in in 1988 seeing a lap top was a fascinating thing and now that laptop era is in the archive.Today we have to change with time and when we walk with the time we and our operating system do not go old . Hope people changed with time and with there operating system to.
I just want to say, touch-screen laptops are useless for me. I've tried to use but it was like i'm in totally strange universe. I know some habits not gonna change easily but people who start learning to use computers with mouse and keyboard since forever, they are gonna OK about that technology just for the smartphones, not computers.
