I installed in successfully in VMware (although it force rebooted once when setting up my account), but I get very high disk usage making it unusable.
maybe start tossing your host specs out and see if we can find a common denominator. I am using my backup machine. Code: Host OS Name Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise fully updated Processor AMD A10-5700 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 3400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB Total Physical Memory 31.4 GB Available Physical Memory 29.3 GB Total Virtual Memory 63.4 GB Available Virtual Memory 61.1 GB Page File Space 32.0 GB BIOS Version/Date AMI 8.19, 6/16/2014 BIOS Mode UEFI Secure Boot State On Motherboard: MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine) Hyper-V - VM Monitor Mode Extensions Yes Hyper-V - Second Level Address Translation Extensions Yes Hyper-V - Virtualization Enabled in Firmware Yes Hyper-V - Data Execution Protection Yes Currently no issues installing or running 9926 unless 20 minute install time is an issue?
Well i played one dota match while it was installing on the background. Still getting ready. Well i need to re-install my PC so yeah. Gonna try it then
When I tried to update from 9879 to 9926 it hung on 'getting ready' so I cancelled the update, deleted the vm, downloaded the 9926 x64 ISO and installed it on VMware Workstation 11 (4 processors/2 GB memory in guest). It installed without a hitch and runs smoothly without any problems.
If you get stuck on ''Getting ready''. Open command prompt with Shift+F10 Type ''taskmgr'' Go to the details tab and then sort on highest CPU usage. Kill sppsvc.exe (or something like that), then goes further with the installation, it reboots and then you can walk through the OOBE. You can do this in a Virtual Machine or a real PC installation.
I think there is something wrong with that process in the new builds. The trick explained before unlocks it immediantly.
First of all sorry for my English, but you have tried to set two CPUs in the virtual machine settings? To me it works seamlessly with the x64 version and 4GB of RAM. P.s.: I use VMWare Fusion 7 but should be the same with VMware Workstation 10.
Thank you for explanation. By the way i think that there still is something wrong. We are always talking about more than 2 hours lag. I think it's really too much even for the new vm activation system. Maybe they're fixing and optimizing it yet...
oh I am using Enterprise and having no issues, maybe what you are referring to is the non VL versions. Hadn't thought of that until BTOR just mentioned ACT in VM. Ill check that later, no time atm though. Try enterprise if nobody has, 20 minute install time at 16 and 8gb ram seems normal, no hanging I notice.
(Assuming you read the amount of RAM in task manager) I guess that's because VMWare reserves the amount of RAM you set. Try 32 bit W10 and give it 16 GB. I installed 32 bit W10 9926 and gave it 6 GB, it used all of it. (It doesn't reserve RAM in the same way for all guest OS's, tho.) Yes, you're right. It has nothing to do with RAM AFAIK. For 64 bit Pro, use 2 cores. Did some testing using a computer with a Samsung 840 SSD, 2600k, and 8 GB RAM. Code: Install time Windows 10 9926 Edition RAM Cores Time 32 Pro 1 GB 1 core 5:17 32 Pro 6 GB 6 cores 4:28 64 Pro 1 GB 1 core (aborted after 30 minutes) 64 Pro 1 GB 2 cores 5:38 64 Pro 1 GB 6 cores 5:25 64 Pro 6 GB 1 core (aborted after 15 minutes) 64 Pro 6 GB 6 cores 5:35 64 Ent 1 GB 1 core 8:45 64 Ent 1 GB 6 cores 5:24 64 Ent 6 GB 6 cores 5:30
I am also the same situation happen !!! VMware Workstation 11.0.0 Windows 10 TP 9926 x64 ZH-TW VM RAM: 4G
In Finnish Win 10 Insider forum but still: bit(dot)ly/1BiqZX9 Due the guidelines i cannot directly credit you, but i told that some user in some other forum
So, is it safe to install Windows 10 9926 in VMware? I don't want to mess up my Win7 computer while testing Win10.
