I managed to download Windows 10 v1511 to a thumbdrive just before Microsoft pulled it. Will it still be OK to install Windows 10 this way rather than reverting to the previous ISO build and then go through a shedload of updates via Windows update? I'm hoping there won't be any nasty surprises? I'm guessing there won't be
I have a fresh install with that .iso. There are some known issue. Regedit can freeze when searching. Driver issues. Long boots. I have experienced long boots, and regedit freezes. These are things i can live with until, there is a fix or a new .iso.
Most of those reports here came from members who (over)tweaked/modded 10240 and upgraded it to 10586. Clean/fresh installs don't have those errors, at least not in the 30+ times i've tested it on my testsystems. MS didn't pull anything, they stopped users to download/use 10586 thru the tools, thru windows update it is 10586 what's offered.
I'm running a clean install without modifications. I think my issues are driver related. I have to wait for a Asrock, to write new ones.
It's a tricky one to call as I've done a clean install with the 1511 ISO on a Lenovo Win 8 laptop (I wiped the drive first) and it installed and activated automatically - no issues at all.
