May be a dumb question, but I recently reformatted a friend's laptop (HP Touchsmart 15-f010wm 15.6-inch Celeron N2830 4GB RAM) to Win 10 Pro x64 from Win 8.1 Pro x64... The laptop, just reformatted (with en_windows_10_multiple_editions_version_1511_x64_dvd_7223712),with all updates installed, Flash Player, Java, and only Firefox... feels slower than a bloated x64 Win 8.1 Pro that came with the laptop + more software, as well as more 'washed out' overall in the screen. Not a whole lot, but constantly noticeable. Tried installing the default graphics drivers from Windows update first, no go, then I installed the drivers from HP website, still look the same, ok. However, what puzzles me more is that it feels slower than a bloated 8.1. I will remove even more crap using the TweakScript from here, and also fool around with Intel's Graphics options, but if anyone has any suggestions... Thanks for reading.
Feelings are subjective and personal. Run some before and after benchmarks. Celeron CPU doesn't give you much to work with. You can pretty much expect Win10 to have more crapware to power over win7/8. ~MC
Hi MrChris sorry but I disagree because I have one humble ASRock D1800B-ITX with celeron J1800 & 8GB of ram and run fine and very fast with all versions of Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 without problems in time I also removed all craps on it
I find Windows 10 runs programs faster, games especially. Emulators and Roms run perfectly in 10, while they constantly have lower FPS in 8.1.
