So I noticed the logo files in these newer versions are different than the ones from over 6 months ago... the early versions used the real logo files which were basically ones off the OEM folder repository... the ones now are custom... I tried searching for any mention or explanation and found none in this thread. So what's the reason for this? Copyright issues? I use this addon with an MUI disc I make myself for system repairs on my clients' computers. Obviously only installing 7 to systems that are licensed for it and installing only the edition the system is licensed for. ;) But when I see unauthentic logos, it's useless to me "out of the box" unless I go and fix it myself. :(

This addon is really great, but I now always have to spend over an hour customizing it and "correcting" the logos with the real things. I also modified the script a little in order for it to copy any extra themes and wallpaper folders I want. :)

One major issue I noticed is, if you setup a system in audit mode, you will have to manually copy the files back into C:\windows\scripts or upon leaving audit mode and going back into OOBE mode, all the custom branding stuff is gone. Windows is doing exactly what the script says to do, clean up after itself. Well it has already done that the first time when you switch from the OOBE into audit, so there's no way for it to set itself back up (and it has to because audit mode wipes all the user preferences and other settings) once you leave audit and go back into OOBE.

Hi! I'm sure this will get updated again with Daz's new 1.9.6 loader so I guess this is a good time to make a small request. Is it possible to add Shuttle (Shuttle XPC) to the list of OEM's as well?

I have one from July and the two Aug updates if they'll help. I also have one from December 09 but I don't think it's searchengines, the wallpapers are all different and it doesn't seem to work (on lenovo's anyway)
I'll be happy to share if you think you can use them

When did you notice the change? I only want proper OEM logo's for much the same reason you do so if mine are what you consider custom please point me to the rights direction.

I don't download every version that is ever released, so I can't pinpoint which version. I first downloaded and used this at the end of July and when I went to redo my 7 discs again in october, I noticed the logos were changed (for the worse IMO) when I downloaded the newer version. So I had to customize the new one by piecing together the new with old. With this latest one, same story, but now I am using a lot of the files from the OEM sources folder thread and putting the files where they belong with this multi-brand addon.

One thing you also must pay attention is, all of the manufacturer names that get displayed won't display properly if you installed a language of Windows that doesn't use the latin/"western europe" script... say you installed, thai for example, the "TM" or "(R)" will probably show up as some garbage. So I edited all of the registry files to remove this in order to preserve MUI compatibility (the discs I build are multi language). Dell, HP, etc don't use trademarking for their manufacturer strings anyway, so it's more authentic not to use them. Also, support phone number or website info maybe specific for one country. I just don't care enough to figure out all the correct info for my country, so I deleted all of them from all the manufacturers.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to figure out all the inconsistencies and issues yourself and customize to your tastes. I won't ever give anyone my customized work as that is disrespectful to searchengine and his work; by doing so, half the work practically becomes mine.

Thats more than likey due to "wmic baseboard" in oobe.cmd, it will install your baseboard brand.. ie: you could have a HP laptop, but your base board could be compal...etc..
Best to remove the wmic baseboard strings from the oobe.cmd..

could something like an LG optical drive cause a false detect like this? I know the XP multi OEM addon that's from MSFN did this in earlier versions...

    (OP)
run Slic Dump Toolkit to confirm "slic"

also, if you save the following code as .cmd file and run it from desktop, 4xTxt files should be produced ... if you zip, and upload somewhere, I will have a look :)

    Code:
    @echo off

    WMIC BASEBOARD >>Baseboard.txt
    WMIC BIOS >>Bios.txt
    WMIC COMPUTERSYSTEM >>Computer.txt
    WMIC CSPRODUCT >>CSProduct.txt
    exit
