I can think of two things.

1: You didn't really delete the ei.cfg and just think it has been deleted.
2: You've said you have the integrated edition, I think you have have the ultimate version Index in the Install.wim.

    Might want to check it.

Need to find out if you have more then just Ultimate with latest updates.
Using DISM or imagex, get the index number count of the install.wim.
If more then 1 then you probably have more but need to see what is all there.

This doesn't work on an HP purchased from Best Buy with Windows 8 preinstalled. I copied the $OEM$ to sources, deleted the ei.cfg file from my Windows 7 Ultimate ISO. It installed fine with all the HP branding but Windows was not activated at the end. I manually entered the HP SLP key for Windows 7 Ultimate and got an activation error.

Doesn't work. Using this method Windows 7 Ultimate is not activated after installing on a recently purchased HP laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled. BIOS is set to legacy mode and secure boot is disabled.

Oh wow. Using SLIC Toolkit v3.2 shows Dump Error, SLIC Table Not Found. Using OEM Assessment Tool shows SLIC-OA Unlisted. This is a brand new HP Pavilion 17 Notebook with BIOS of InsydeH2O F.22. So you are right, there is no SLIC 2.1 in BIOS. In other words, I am screwed unless I resort to a boot loader which I was hoping to avoid. This is interesting. I bought a brand new Dell in Dec 2012 with Windows 8 preinstalled. I simply disabled secure boot and installed Windows 7 with a Dell OEM disk. So some machines with Windows 8 preinstalled may still have SLIC 2.1 but others may not right? Do you know if this machine uses SLIC at all? I have seen reference to SLIC 3.0. I guess this means that eventually this wonderful SLIC/OEM activation hack will no longer work? This is pretty f**king ridiculous that you can't even install an HP OEM operating system version on an HP machine. They are forcing you with Windows 8. I hated HP already. I told this person to buy a Dell, and I will certainly stick with them unless and until they really start screwing their customers a la HP.

You could put SLIC 2.1 into your bios and that should work, if the available methods function for your type setup.

Hello Everyone i just wanted to say that this forum is amazing and im a HUGE fan of all these projects and very thankful for all your hard work and time spent answering everyone's questions.

I have a question i download this what seems like a amazing project what im trying to understand is these are not Windows AIO am i required to find the AIO install ISO and inject these $OEMs manually? I been having really s**tty luck with Window AIO ISO's out there and this looks like a great idea for a RESTORE media option.
