I merely quoted, what MS spokesmen said on several occasions, when asking about those keys. To put it, so simpletons would understand, MS does not care, but they can not admit it and officially it is valid, you have a proof of purchase. I bought several Windows Pro keys from Microsoft store for $15 during discount. The price does not make keys illegal. I love one case, people were questioning the price, so the eshop raised it and they were happy, that they had to pay more.
Sounds like it's worth a shot! I just realized I actually have a legit Win10 install on my ancient laptop from a couple years ago when they gave Win10 away fore free like candy limited offer!!1one Maybe I could create installation media from that as well? Do they let you install it on any machine without activation? I remember back in the day when you changed your hardware you had to activate it again within a month or so or it stopped working. Do they still do that?
OEM systems and laptops are activated by MSDM (win 10), the key resides inside the BIOS and 8/8.1 hardware already got it and the MSDM is also for 10. Afaik, when win 10 is upgraded to a new build it is changed into a HWID Once a HWiD is established, it reactivates the same install on the same hardware, as soon as the device connects to the internet. The HWID can be linked to a MSA, when linked, you can re-activate after big hardware changes (mobo) or move the license to new hardware (using the activation troubleshooter).
Source? I'm pretty sure that spokesman would've been fired immediately after saying that.. Okay, Mr. "Simpleton", if you bought a stolen computer and the thief gave you a receipt that wouldn't make the computer store-bought brand new.. Almost the same goes for the key, there is just an additional level of abstraction as a key does not (by itself) constitute a license. Well, that's a different story if it's from the Microsoft store.. (they're pretty much the definition of an authorized Microsoft software distributor)
It definitely applies to Windows. Not a shadow of a doubt.Usedsoft sells all kinds of software secondhand - especially MS products. Their customers are mainly government departmets around the world. If you read the link, it doesn't say "oracle products", it says "software". It is legal to resell software licenses in the EU.
Ok so I guess that's off the table then. But creating a Win 10 medium on my Win7 desktop that's activated with (I think) KMSpico and then using that USB stick to set up a fresh install on new hardware (new CPU, MB, and RAM) would work without activation like Joe C said? I can create the medium now but I won't be able to install and test it before the new parts arrive some time in January.
Why would it be off the table? Google for HWID tools ps, stop using KMSpico, it's not updated for years now and can't handle the new licensing of win 10, use KMS_VL_ALL instead.
If their customers are government in general, it's business and not private persons. @mspaintmsi did a few posts with official MSFT info.
Microsoft simply genuinely cares that you have the latest and greatest to stay safe and secure. They are altruistic like that!
The same is true of any other item. For example, you can sell your old dvd movies or books or software or any other item . You are not supposed to make mutiple copies and sell them. It is not illegal to sell used software in the EU ( and in many other places). Just as it is not illegal to sell your old dvd ,movies, books, bicycles, etc. It might be that you buy a dvd movie second hand and it doesn't work, or is a copy, etc. Caveat emptor as with ALL things you buy second hand. Software is not magically different from any other item.
Usedsoft is a large organization. As fas as I know, they don't bother selling single licenses. What is your point?
Remember, Microsoft DOES NOT sell you the Windows Software. They sell you the License to USE Windows Software.
