yeah, the whole UEFI thing looked like a massive pain in the ass that I didn't want to deal with :( Honestly, it looks like the only advantage of UEFI, aside from my touchpad working, is that I would be able to use a system drive larger than 2TB. Not a huge issue at the moment.

I will point out that my Win7 installation uses the Win 10 installer (Windows 7 AIO 10in1 USB3 x32 x64 DUAL en-US murphy78) and the touchpad works fine during installation.... Any chance that is helpful information?

The WinPE is from 10 so it has native support. Personally I don't use the touchpad & have it disabled because a mouse is better....

This thing is still an issue, this time for me with ASUS X540BA, everything but the damn touchpad works on Win7.

Possibly the same hardware as it uses the same Win10 driver listed in OP.

Has anyone found the solution for this since then?

(I thought I might have disconnected touchpad during the disassembly, but it works in BIOS)

//edit: I should have said, there is no driver showing as missing in Device Manager either

Actually, the manufacturer can hide any device by checking the running OS version in the ACPI tables.

Even if you manage to patch these tables, the UEFI Forum, probably led by Microsoft created new exclusive ACPI interfaces to deal with GPIO/i2C controllers, which means you cannot use these devices on any OS older than Win8 because device resources cannot be assigned to these controllers.
