A few months ago I updated to windows 7 with an OEM disk given to me by a friend. It was validated and working fine until today. My computer is left on 24/7 for the most part. I was out running errands and returned to see the deactivation had occurred.

My Dell came with Vista, but I hated it at the time and downgraded to XP. I did a clean win7 install after SUCCESSFULLY flashing BIOS to 2.1 slic from 2.0, and ran all of the correct Dell stuff (OEM key, certificate, etc). As I said, things were fine until today. What happened? How can I fix this?

*NOTE: I realize keys are not proprietary and any one should work. So I tried a couple of other OEM keys just for giggles, none of them worked either.*

I didn't see anything that said BETA on the disk nor on my system. I avoid BETA releases of anything in general. But if this is the case, how can I tell and how do I fix the problem?

That did the trick! Thanks soooo much!

So, out of curiosity, what happened exactly? Is there something preventative I need to look out for in the future?

DSEO13b must be RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
    Enable test mode
    Restart
Type cmd in START menu, right click and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
Type slmgr.vbs -rearm and wait for confirmation
    Restart
    Enter new key
    Restart
Run DSEO13b again, disable test mode
    Restart
    DONE
