When I saw that the driver you recommended had the same, 2.1.0.21, name, installed and everxthing works fine. I did NOT uninstall the old version, should I have done that? I always create a restore point, before doing anything like that. I also re-installed the april updates. Are they complete: The installation log of UpdatePack 7 / 2008 R2 / 21.4.15 Installation start time - 5:26:34 07.05.2021 Operating system - Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 UpdRoots - Installation of the update has been successfully completed KB2900986 - Installation of the update has been successfully completed KB5001335 - To complete the installation a reboot required Installation finish time - 5:28:57 07.05.2021 The number of installed updates - 3 Total installation time of UpdatePack - 02:23 Operation of the program has been successfully finished The Win10 computer uses the same connection, and switching cables was the first test I did, to make sure....
Of course as first test, I have run several av programs, they all complain about DAZ Loader, but no virus.
Did you check proxy/DNS/VPN configuration is the same between your PCs? Otherwise, maybe the Win10 computer simply has a different ethernet controller resulting in better performance now.
I have now re-installed Win 7... Result is the same: downloading 3mbs, uploading 40mbs.... Is it possible they are throttling???
After re-installing Win7, the "normal" Surfshark works again, but the speeds are unchanged. What I find remarkable is, that the uploadspeed is basically the same it always was, 30 to 60 MBS. It is the download speed that is a nuisance. At three in the morning it is at a normal 50 to 90 MBS, but later it drops to below 10 MBS, while the upload remains high....
In case someone else has a problem like that... the slow death of the Network Card caused the problem. It stopped working completely a few days ago, and a PCI card is coming from amazon in the next few days..
Hope you mean PCI Express. Just bought a 10GBit Intel card for PCI-E. However, most people will simply use the on-board LAN and not discrete NICs. I still remember the time when essentially nothing was integrated on-board or in the CPU, you had to buy everything extra (imagine a naked PC without LAN and sound).
Thank you Carlos, but it looks like it has been a long time ago, when you read what the thread was all about. I had downloadspeeds of 1-3MB with my fibre cable... and no one had an idea what the problem was was all about. On Monday the whol connection stopped, even the icon of the adapter in the device manager had vanished. All the solutions opffered in the internet had as the spolution getting another PCI card. It will deliver today. PS I will just be praying until then....
If it is really the old PCI slot, then it is good that you still found a PCI card. Most boards don't have PCI slots anymore, and these cards are becoming increasingly rare.
Yes, the computer is about eight years old and I updated it a little, getting SSDs and i7 CPU (used from amazon $100). Only 4th generation, but as I am not gamer it works just fine The motherboard has two slots size 16 and two size 8. The card (amazon $10) came last night, I plugged it in and fixed the Lan cable socket... had to download the driver... and everything works just fine. And I have learned something new.
