    I've set up a small business with 4 Dell Vostro 230 Quadcore Q9500 2.8GHZ PC's - all with Win 7 Professional.

One is the file "file server" which no-one uses - and the other three are workstations.

I've networked them together and for most of the time they all work fine together... but sometimes the workstations "lose" connection with the "server" but a simple reboot of the server usually sorts things out.

My question is... what settings should I change on the server for this environment in order to perhaps improve things? I guess there must be tweaks that are beneficial to the sever??

Any advice would be received gratefully.

Google tweaks for 2008 server related to SMB/file sharing, afaik. they're more or less the same as 7 when it comes to neworking.

I've run a similar setup, but it was using Win XP as the "server"(back b4 I decided to use a proper server OS for the purpose), and my experience with newer Windows OS's are that they're somewhat... worse - performance-wise when it comes to networking.
