I have the same problem, win 7 freezes was a ram problem try to check the hardware.
Or maybe the overclock is failing. Se maybe all works perfectly I never thought that was the ram, I tested with windows tool and after I change it. The problem has gone.

    Storage:
IDE Controller Intel(R) N10/ICH7 Family Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C0

Eset Smart Security is a AV and FW. It isn't fully supported with Windows 7 Yet. Well the firewall isn't.

Edit; Using Eset AV and Comodo Firewall now.

Not sure what the best firewall for windows 7 is, tried PCTools, but seemed to slow the internet connection down.

Now go to Intel's site and download the Matrix Storage Manager for your chipset, install it and reboot. It will then ask for another reboot cause it installs your hard drive's driver. Then see if your problem is solved :p

Windows and Firewalls: To be honest most routers have a Hardware Firewall on top of your Windows Firewall. Firewall program is overkill on any Windows machine nowadays. Only thing you need to do is use Firefox with Ad Block Plus and Noscript addons and you'll be totally secure for the most part. Wireless internet however is never secure lol :p

I had the freezing issue, was caused by nvidia sata drivers, default microsoft ones worked ok, and a new release of the driver version by nvidia fixed the issue.

Now it seems fine to me..
I changed my antivirus to "Eset Nod32" antivirus only without firewall..
And i think windows firewall is sufficient.. so, i'm not goin to install any extra crap..

edit: tested PC Tools Firewall Pro too.. it seems not much compatible as well as seems slow.. so chuck it..

Intel Matrix Storage Manager is for non-RAID and RAID modes. Though I guess if you didn't have this freezing problem after a fresh install of your OS then you're fine perhaps. But if you were getting freezes and lockups for 30-45 seconds where nothing on your screen reacted then I am 100% sure not having the matrix manager is your problem. And to avoid traffic shaping just use uTorrent with Forced Encryption and keep your ports in the 6x,xxx range and change it every once in awhile. Should be good to go. I'm always downloading at 1MB/sec.

changed my port in utorrent, and in my router.

And now port isn't open unless i diasble firewall, so much for automatic mode in eset.

Had to add firewall rule now to eset, damn messing
