Guess those pics would be all over the web. Anyway, if you wish to have an idea, google image "Windows 3.1".
I agree Windows icons haven't changed a lot in the Technical Preview. One would expect better ones in Windows 10 or the ability to changed them whenever you want with a third party's created ones.
I would wish to add something about Spartan ... I've seen some rumor/speculation that Spartan would be the browser to replace IE, and there won't be a IE12. From what I heard, Spartan was only developed as modern app, it won't be developed for desktop - naturally, take it as rumor too.
That is not a rumor but what Microsoft said in official blog posts, on Twitter and in an article on a news site written by an IE developer. Project Spartan is a universal app (read: modern app), it will run on phones and small tablets ("mobile"), large tablets and desktops. Spartan has a dual-rendering engine: Edge and IE11's Trident engine and it will automatically detect incompatible websites and switch to the old engine. There is no IE12 (or maybe Spartan will be names IE12). But Windows 10 will ship with a newer version of IE that also has the same dual-rendering engines (Edge and Trident). It is possible that IE will only be available in Enterprise SKU. Extensions are officially confirmed but Microsoft said that they are working on a plan yet and it will come in a later update. To me that sounds like extensions will not be available when Windows 10 ships.
Icompletely agree with this statement. Lots of enterprises is still dependent onspecific ActiveX tools and so. Not including IE into Enterprise SKUwould be the same catastrophe as decision to not include Start Menuinto Windows 8. For this reason, I’m pretty sure that all major Windows 10SKU will come with IE, not only Enterprise.
Why? Universal apps can run on the desktop now and access other x86 programs. But there are many advantages: modern apps scale perfectly on different screen resolutions even without logging out, they can be automatically updated through the Store and they are a bit more secure (sandboxed). I personally think it is great for Windows that modern apps are much more powerful with Windows 10 and that third party developers could now start to create fully functional modern apps. One of Windows 8's major problem IMO. And the development of desktop programs on Windows is pretty much dead if you compare it with Mac OS. A lot of independent and nicely done apps are on Mac but not on Windows anymore. Universal apps could change that and give some fresh new possibilities even for mouse/desktop users.
Nah, it's not the point, your quotings (actually I've seen them, but tks for the effort anyway) didn't say "Spartan will replace IE" and/or "there won't be a IE12". Spartan like other Modern Apps, could be run as windowed apps on desktop, doesn't mean it's a desktop application, AFAIK, it's not developed for a desktop version. Sidetalk: btw, guess MJF is now frantically bugging her "MS inside contacts" about Windows 365, the card that she once said so definitely "is not on the table". lmao.
Would probably be released this week, but don't expect too much from the new build, AFAIK, "transparency" and "New Spartan" are for WEP stage of development(naturally, we know MS would call the public releases as TP-x).
