Those 9.00-120612a drivers don't work for my HD 5470m card, other hd 5000s might have more luck. The odd thing is even though video in WMP doesn't work just as was the case with CP and RP, videos do play in the Metro Video player. Evidently Metro's Video player isn't using EVR to render.
Mobility Radeon HD 5470 drivers are working perfectly on Win 8 PRO even the switch. You just need to add on setup.exe "run compatibility - win 7" and after you can run the setup. Proof: h ttp://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3159/atid.png
The 9.00-120612a drivers start to install and then my screen turns black and never comes back. Even rebooting the screen is always black now. The only way to fix this is to boot into safe mode and uninstall them. My computer is a HP Pavillion dv6-6135dx with amd dual graphics 6620g and 6750m. The same thing happens when I install the latest official drivers (12.6) in windows 7. Does anyone have an idea about why it does this?
U misunderstand, they install fine. They don't work, EVR is broke (Enhanced Video Renderer). This has been the case for Win8 CP and RP as well. With included drivers and recent Catalyst. Its not true for all HD5000m gpus but more specific to Sony, maybe some others.
i cant comment about any cards but the 7000 which thanks to DJxSPeedy the 9.00-120612a driver work like a charm
got the same issue with switchable amd (4000 series) and intel. Old original driver , ati 8.x works, but trying to update over it always stops or fails having to reinstall.
Thanks! Soo lucky google brought me here Thanks a lot man, downloaded and installed. There was a lot of flickering and blinking but in the end works like a charm. So confirmed working on Windows 8 RTM Enterprise-N with ATI Radeon HD5700. Thanks a lot!
I've installed Windows 8 RTM and I installed the drivers and catalyst program for my GPU (5770) and all I can change using the catalyst program is my CPU speed and my wifi radio. No settings to do with my graphics card. I've tried the Windows 8 release preview drivers, the new beta, and the stable ones. Nothing works. The Windows 8 release preview one says there may be a problem (but not failed) and when I open up the log it says the driver failed to install. I checked the device manager and it says that it's got up to date drivers. Gaming and stuff works fine, the only reason I care is that with HDMI I get a 15% underscan. I can usually fix this through catalyst but no settings are there.
For those wondering, the ATI HD 4000 series are not supported with the drivers 9.x posted here. Probably there won't be a new driver release for Windows 8, as they are now being called "legacy" by ATI. Mine is a Radeon HD 4890 and I'm using the Catalyst 12.6 drivers in Win8 x64, working just fine. Perhaps I'm missing out on something but haven't noticed yet. BF3 works perfectly. Won't buy ATI again though, it is not the first time they pull this trick. Cheers.
I got a mobile amd 4000 card in a 2 year old tablet pc, and cant get any new amd driver to install Either it hangs on install or black screen when manually installing it. 12.6 legacy works fine in win 7. So if nothing changes a 2 year or tablet pc is stuck with original ati 8.x driver that works with switchable intel graphics. They call this a legacy product? Its not that long since they stopped selling notebooks with ati 4000 cards
I installed the 12.6 drivers for windows 7 x64 on my windows x pro x64 and all i got was the control centre no driver install and no errors in the log. I can only see Pinned, Presets and Power options in the control centre. "Note: The In-the-box AMD graphics driver that is included with Windows® 8 will include support for the AMD Radeon HD 4000, 3000, and 2000 series, and it will support the WDDM 1.1 driver level features. The AMD Catalyst driver for Windows 8 will only include support for WDDM 1.2 support products (AMD Radeon HD 5000 and later), and will not support the AMD Radeon HD 4000, HD 3000, and HD 2000 series." Looks like we are cut off from latest drivers peeps. Time for a graphics card upgrade this sucks! support.amd_com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalyst126legacyproducts_aspx (Replace the 2 _'s with a . for link to quote above about windows 8 drivers for anything below 5xxxx.) That info was posted on 7/17/2012 so its fresh, up to date. No point in holding out for new drivers, Just go buy an Nvidia card. I have had it with ATI now I really have. My next PC and all the PC's i build for people will no longer have AMD/ATI anything! Going Intel/Nvidia from here on out at least they support a product for more than 3 years!
