NEEDED: Usb Stick 8GB Windows7-USB-DVD-tool Windows 8 DVD/ISO Captured Install.wim Use Windows7-USB-DVD-tool & Windows 8 DVD/ISO to make a Bootable Windows 8 usb stick & Swop the install.wim on the usb stick with the Captured Install.wim & Install Windows 8.
just some extra info NTFS = no EFI/ secureboot ..setup needs fat32 ( this is why windows makes a 100 MB hidden fat32 partition to boot EFI if needed)
this acer mc605 bios got support to turn on and off CSM, at this moment, it is OFF, so, only support device that uses GPT and conform to efi boot style, SS is what? stack segment
I used that tool to format my 16GB flashdrive with UEFI/GPT and used it to install Windows 8. In my bios, I enabled secure boot. I then attempted disabling secure boot after installation, everything worked/OS started. I noticed while setting up the partitions, with booting usb as UEFI it made 4 partitions, with normal boot, just two. Let us know how your test performed.
ok, i got the image captured, reboot the generalized audited system, enter oobe, accept license, it seems it works as expected next is to clear all partition and reinstall win8csl with capture wim using the ntfs gpt pendrive, i hope it works. using /compress:max the final size is 4.3GB, office starter 2010, kingsoft office, all windows 8 updates, 7zip, adobe acrobat reader, vlc player, chrome & firefox, wish me luck!
I do wish you luck! I will say that your line here: next is to clear all partition and reinstall win8csl with capture wim using the ntfs gpt pendrive - confuses me, as far as I know, you cannot format the pendrive to both of those formats. I think you meant to say uEFI/GPT
met with one weird update issue, since i updated every win8 available updates during audit mode, i assume no more update will comes up after i deploy, except for today or tomorrow updates, kinda weird, and their size is bigger than to what available for download ms download support site, (manual deploy) now running win8 sl installation with capture wim from usb pendrive with ntfs gpt uefi, cross fingers!!
ok, great news guys, successfully deployed on first pc =) it seems acer bios support uefi ntfs reading, idk but it seems so.
maybe below information is useful to diagnose why this usb ntfs able to boot, Code: DISKPART> detail disk Generic Flash Disk USB Device Disk ID: {D0495C96-F01B-49BA-83A4-56B15042585A} Type : USB Status : Online Path : 0 Target : 0 LUN ID : 0 Location Path : UNAVAILABLE Current Read-only State : No Read-only : No Boot Disk : No Pagefile Disk : No Hibernation File Disk : No Crashdump Disk : No Clustered Disk : No Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- -------- * Volume 4 K NTFS Removable 15 GB Healthy DISKPART> detail partition Partition 1 Type : ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7 Hidden : No Required: No Attrib : 0X8000000000000000 Offset in Bytes: 1048576 Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- -------- * Volume 4 K NTFS Removable 15 GB Healthy DISKPART> detail volume Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt -------- ------------- ------- ------- --- --- * Disk 1 Online 15 GB 0 B * Read-only : No Hidden : No No Default Drive Letter: No Shadow Copy : No Offline : No BitLocker Encrypted : No Installable : No Volume Capacity : 15 GB Volume Free Space : 10 GB
If you used the Rufus tool I linked here then you probably left the default selected for "Partitions scheme and target system type" which is "MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers."
i use diskpart in my above experiment, maybe you could try create a ntfs usb and try boot to check if it is able to install or no? i will try boot this particular pendrive on other laptop/workstation brand, and a non uefi laptop later,
