Windows 10 Automatic Updates Enable/Disable script

Only for english, in Italian language is necessary modify this line: ver | find /i "Version 10">nul 2>nul
In: ver | find /i "Versione 10">nul 2>nul

Otherwise get this message:

Sorry, but I'm afraid to ruin my OS, so I will not use this script. I will wait to registry tweak.

 

it be better to figure out how to enable so we can pick what updates we want to install. registry hack that brings back win8 feature?

 

Here the registry :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX

You need to change IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled to 0. But it didn't changed. There is an error.

 

Old WU interface is removed, and this won't bring it back

 

If you read through his code, you will find the registry tweak... Also this may not even be the GA build. What are you afraid of
ruining your OS for?

 

I saw it but it understandably for me.

 

Surely if 'ruining' the OS was a big priority, you wouldn't want to block updates at all?

 

OK. This script disables the automatic check for updates and the automatic downloading of it in the background without user info BUT if we manually check for updates, Windows Updates starts automatically downloading all the updates found. Still better than nothing.

If you don't want to use the script then you go to settings / Network and internet / WiFi / Advanced Options / Set your internet connection as a Metered Connection

You can cheek for updates and it wont DL them I have data restrictions and this works perfectly for me

This only works for a WiFi Adapter there is no option for Ethernet
