I downloaded the iso from msdn. I copied in USB with Yumi program. I installed Windows 10 on an empty partition ignoring the key. And windows was not activated. I copied token.dat and another file in windows / system32 / spp / store / 2.0 for my windows 8.1 update 1 and cha chan activated. Windows 8.1.1 in partition 1 and Windows 10 in partition 2 with the same files taken.dat and other. Windows 10 is a brutal actualization of Windows 10
Congrats, those tokens are out-dated. The activation still needs the Server hand-shake, no way around that. EDIT: So far all tests done (Superfly, Daz and others) come to that conclusion.
Yes. the computer conect to the server´s MS, because really the Windows 10 is a great patch (ISO or Windows update) and it need the key (taken.dat)
Not said you were completely wrong, but still in most parts. The Upgrade initially will read the old tokens to validate legitimacy. Then new Tokens get created under: Code: %programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\ClipSVC\tokens.dat These tokens needs to be recreated after a Fresh install, hence the mandatory hand-shake. No way to surpass this.
You know how we just learned about that kms genuine ticket thing? I'm wondering if this online activation has it as well and that's why it won't verify our offline attempts to back it up.
Good point ... . But i fear it's not THAT easy in case of the new online activation. If one is able to mimik that handshake ... but i guess that's a wild phantasy .
reinstall windows 8.1 and upgrade then once upgraded make a new backup for windows 10 as it works and can be restored with microsoft toolkit enjoy as yes it works as i have done it my self others talk without trying
As said, if it gives a good feeling at least ... . Yeah, sure, especially Daz and some others don't know what the heck they talk about .
I boot the computer without internet access. i erase the token.dat from windows 8.1.1 and the system (windows 10) no active only a moment. The own system remake the 2 taken ( folder ssp and other...clipler). without internet access. (the taken.dat of ssp was smaller because I have not installed office)
the same windows 8.1 activation backup methods work fine I just tested it windows 7(legit key) > upgraded to windows 10 and made a backup upgraded windows 8.1(using KMS activation) to 10 on the same machine (different drive) pulled the lan cable and restored the activation backup I made the other drive system is activated so yes not only does it does work but you could likely install pirated windows 7 on another harddrive upgrade to windows 10 and then you get a valid activation for that machine without removing 8.1 and installing 7
Manual Activation Did Manual backup from Activated Token from previous install and Activated with no Problem..
Hate to pop your feel good moment, activation is not stored on any image backup, it is stored on Microsoft Servers, so unless your activation is legal, it will not stand a reboot. Just like the offline people, yes you may offline put copy on, have it say activated, but you know in the back of your mind, online, 1 reboot, ah no, but if it makes everyone think they have a backup of a MS Server,
Yes my Activation is Legit can reboot all day no issues per info off of a MS Site. And just did another clean install off of USB with a answer file with same install product key and now there is no need to deal with the token file. So Yes It's a Server activation on same system. ~DP Quote: "Windows 10 handles keys differently. When you upgrade to Windows 10 Or Clean Install the process registers your computers hardware, and qualifying OS with a Microsoft Product Activation Server. The device is then considered a Windows 10 device. Subsequently anytime you re-install (or clean install) the installation checks with those servers, finds the unique installation ID and produces the validation"
