I don't know, but I think MS will release in 29 july this build, 10240, with all last updates (and maybe in the last 10 days until 29 july will be more updates).
Of course not official but leaked and sure as hell RTM because this is the versions OEMs are getting for install on new devices which will get 0 day updates on 29 July. We can use this to upgrade our existing PCs and wait for 29 July for GA updates or keep waiting for official ISO which may or may not include GA updates.
I found or rather not found a registry key that was in the WU/ESD 10240 clean install, regarding defender. Trying to track down my screen shots so I can double check. Now to permanently shut off defenders on requires the gpedit policy changes I posted previously...it now also stops antimalware service. I can no longer find the 3rd setting I had to change previously.
@dilexman you don't have choice for upgrade you 3PCS Microsoft linked hardware ID and product key at you Microsoft account, so that your activation key to be recognized you must manually upgrade each pc windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 after only you can clean install Windows 10 with iso.
I believe only Window Insiders will get ISO, if you are not Insider this is not for you, the rest will get ESD's
What you can do before attempting the upgrade? You can do some pre-requisite tasks to ensure a smooth migration to Windows 10. If you are using a name brand computer such as a Dell or HP, go to the manufacturers website for the model computer you are using and download the latest available drivers for that computer. Store them on a disc or USB thumb drive. Important drivers you should try to obtain include Chipset, Network and Video Drivers. Its possible that they might have only Windows 7 drivers, those will work with Windows 10. Other things you can do: 1.Uninstall any security software before attempting to upgrade. 2.Disable any encryption software you might have installed. 3.Disable/uninstall disk utility software such as DVD/CD burning utilities or third party defragment programs such as Perfect Disk. 4.Make sure your computer is updated (devices and applications). 5.Disconnect any external devices before installing. 6.Check your hard disk for any errors: - Click Start - Type: CMD - Right click CMD then click Run as administrator At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk /r /f Exit the command prompt. When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them. 7.Another thing you can do is disable Start items: •Click Start •Type: MSCONFIG. •Hit Enter on your keyboard •On the General tab, click Selective Startup. •Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. •Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. •Click OK. •When you are prompted, click Restart. Run the System File Checker utility. SFC/Scannow checks your Windows installation for errors and corrects them. This will help with ensuring that a smooth upgrade occurs. Click Start Make sure no startup items
This build is MISSING stuff. I could NOT install to VHD either by imagex or install from thumb drive by pressing shift+F10 during installation. Near the end of installing devices the machine goes to your pc has encountered a problem. This does not happen with ISOs converted from ESDs. There is definitely something not quite right with this image file. I do not recommend it as a MAIN DRIVE!
None of the above. Per Microsoft there is no final build. The only build which is final is that which is out when it reaches End of Support. As far as which one will be released on 29 July? It won't be this leaked build. It is not a complete image.
I used updown and ran setup.exe I'm halfway done with installation But it's been saying "Your PC will restart in a few moments" for a long while now Is that normal Update: it finally went after 40 minutes! Thanks anyways
