If Build 10550 is released it will be an Insider Build and on WU for download. Even though Gabe says it looks real good, there have been other Builds that looked good but were pulled at the last minute with a Bug. What is "RTM 10550" ?
Why I we wondering about a build that will inevitably have another build after it? With more features in it?
there no rtm since win 10 is always evolving, the "RTM" as you may call it is 10240, i have ghosted it, i update it with every new version ... if a new version come out, i format, reghost, and update again ... since i have an microsoft account ... I find m$ very stupid using this update method, a wopping 3 gigs of dowload each time, why dont they have smaller update packages, kernel updates etc .... Oh i forgot, win 10 is a service, not an Os
Not my experience so much with Google. Ask Android users how well the 3 Preview builds of Marshmellow have ran on their phones the last few months. M$ might take a page out of Google's book.
Well yeah, even for the Fast Ring, builds undergo a lot of testing to make sure that they are stable for most daily functions. How are people supposed to test a build if there's a memory leak or Explorer.exe crashes? The only feedback MS will get is "explorer.exe has stopped working", as people leave the Insider Program.
gabriel aul hinted that in the future it will be moving to a more patching type system for builds but right now they are trying to get windows 10 mobile and windows 10 threashold 2 on same kernal which is what threashold 2 is all about threashold 2 is geared not towered new features but towered mostly synching the code bases of the mobile and desktop shipping os this is similer to what they did when they released windows server 2008 it was built off windows vista service pack one this approach will allow you to download most patches etc and move them from mobile to desktop and back etc there be joined at the hip
it will end up with Service Packs like they did in the past but they will show up more frequently. Some might contain only new features and some major ones might fix bugs. To deploy entire builds will be too heavy over the time and most disturbing to average users
The term "service packs" has been dead for a very long time now. The term you're looking for may be "Cumulative Updates". That's well known....
NO. Gabriel Aul, head of Windows Insiders, revealed on Twitter that build 10550 is in Microsoft ring at the moment, and it may roll out to Windows Insiders Fast ring soon. Phone is 10536 and 537 is still in internal FR.
