Let's stop at this moment (after upgrading to Windows 10 Pro). If I want to install clean Windows 10 later, then Microsoft's servers will give me Windows 10 Pro licence. Am I right?
If you upgrade to win 10 pro, and you want to install later, then no install win 7 home, only win 7 pro or ultimate if you want to install win 10 pro back at later date. If you install win 7 pro, upgrade to win 10 pro, yes you can clean install win 10 pro anytime, but not if you install win 7 home and then try to clean install win 10 pro.
If I downloaded the ISO on my laptop using the media creation tool can I use that ISO on a different computer for the 1aa install method? Also I guess I am a little confused on the gatherosstate.exe portion. Is the only place to get that from the source folder of a Windows 10 10240 ISO? So I need to download the entire ISO just for one little part?
It's a windows ISO, it must be either extracted to a folder or burned to a DVD or flash drive, and it can be used on any computer, laptop, anytime. You can't download only part of it, and how do you plan on installing windows or upgrading to windows 10 if you don't download the windows 10 ISO, it's the only way to install a operating system if you download it or buy it on a flash drive or DVD.
Duh. My bad. I was thinking I needed the specific build called out in the 1aa for the gatherstate.exe out of it.
I figured there was a reason, but posted to quickly and should have asked what you meant. Thanks, and hope this helped you.
I have asked several support officials of several support channels in several regions regarding the transfer rights after free-upgrading a FPP license to Windows 10. In most cases, the officials were clearly guessing (several answers of a single official were conflicting). If they said that the EULA is right and windows.com does not apply ("on that device") they failed to provide clear and trustful steps how to activate the license after moving to another device after the free upgrade offer expires. The only locally consistent answer I have managed to get is from an activation support line: However, even this story has a missing piece. How I should know this if I just go through the Get Windows 10 app which just asks me to accept EULA which has a different story in it. There is no other text pointing to the story of the Activation Line.
The license agreement does not explain how activation is acquired or held. It does state the two licenses, preinstalled ( OEM ) stand alone software ( FPP ) and it covers downgrade. By the time that the free upgrade expires, windows 10 will be able to accept the FPP key that was purchased to activate it. Also if you remove windows 10 ( downgrade ) you may use the FPP license such as windows 7, 8.1, and it may be transferred to a devise you own. What is clear is you can't use your license to run the free win 10 and the purchased version at the same time or on more than one devise at a time. Remember by the time the free upgrade is over, you will be able to add your FPP key when clean installing windows 10 just as was done in 7 and 8. At this point you skip add key when upgrading from a ISO or clean installing because during the upgrade windows 10 reads our HWID and sends it to a MS server, and can be clean installed at any point and windows 10 contacts the server again and activates it, but shortly the option to directly add the key will be added to one of the windows 10 updates.
hi ran gatherosstate.exe but put ticket on desktop does that matter / not C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\
It shouldn't matter on windows 7 or 8.1, so long as windows is activated and you copy gatherosstate to the win 7, 8.1 activated system and run it, then you must copy the XML and save it, then it must be placed into - C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineticket\ ---- of your w10 installation and reboot again. All the while that win 10 is not connected to the net.
once I use the ticket can it be used on future installs on that machine? or will it only work while free upgrade is availible
You won't need to, as it was only needed to skip the upgrade process. Now anytime you clean install win will contact MS servers with HWID and activate. You can save a copy somewhere else because it gets eaten in the folder and is gone.
I want make a clean install and I receive the information of myy windows is expire in some date whats happend when I get this date ?
