Just FYI It's possible to upgrade from W7Pro OEM, activated with MAK key. Just tested it in VM, works 100%.
here will be a question . facts : 1. my son's [16] games computer has installed from august 2015 a 10240 MTKVed all is and were ok for now, thank you MDL for directions 2. I want to get digital entitlement for his computer till end of july but my son don't want a reinstall on his dektop because of his game savings and more stuff 3. MS HWID for windows 10 do not include the hdd/ssd intentions : 1. I intend to remove temporary his ssd and plug a spare and empty/formated hdd 2. clean install on spare hdd , win7 , dazzed , validate online , save licence with gatherosstate do a clean install of 10586.1511.104 offline , restart , restore licence , restart , go online , get the digital entitlement for verifying the licence I will do another clean reinstall of 10586.1511.104 online [without restoring licence] im sure all will be ok , verified several times , thank you again MDL for directions 3. replace the spare hdd with the original ssd question : if , offline at first boot , I will uninstall MTKV , restart , go online after restart I will get or not the digital entitlement on the ssd with old 10240 unMTKVed now ? [ or is better to wait for a future clean install on ssd for not lose the licence , even after end of july ? ] [ or is another better way? ] c
I think my previous post was too long shortly 1. I already have for the machine the digital entitlement gained on other spare hdd , removed 2. now I have installed a ssd with 10240 / MTKV which I don't have permission to reinstall it (yet) from the owner (my son) how can I get again the digital entitlement to this 10240 ? uninstall offline MTKV , restart and simply go online is my first option , but is this the correct path ? c
If the machine is already entitled I think that you have just to install the generic key with slmgr /ipk (or with MS Toolkit itself) and reboot. Better if you do so disconnected from the internet. Then you should be activated once the internet connection is reestablished.
as identical as they may appear, they are totally different. But to answer a question whether a GenuineTicket would work on multiple machines, I don't know. Don't think so.
Can somebody help with a problem? I have windows 8.1 PRO installed with KMS and I've copied gatherosstate.exe and run it on computer and GenuineTicket.xml is not generated. I've installed all the drivers and windows is activated (PC Info is saying it is activated) What can be the reason, why GanuineTicket.xml failed to be generated. I run it from USB, from c: drive, the same result. On my other computer with W7, GenuineTicket.xml was generated, so gatherosstate.exe is good. gatherosstate.exe is version 10240.
read first post please here and the other . this method will not work with any KMSed windows the file will not be generated because is no reason to be considered genuine will work with seven dazzed. edit/ IT WORKS . READ POST 249 c
Based on description in 1b. It looks like it can be done. I cannot install w7, because laptop will not see hard drive. Laptop Alienware 17 R3 and I cannot find drivers for W7.
can you replicate here the part of "description in 1b" which make you to consider that "it can be done" c
I've made and assumption, because it was listed together with W7, I understand my assumption was wrong. Thanks for clarification.
My computer has pre-installed OEM version of Windows 7. So, it has SLIC in its BIOS, certificate and OEM activation key, allowing Windows 7 to be automatically activated after fresh installation. Suppose that I have a Windows 10 ISO, and perform the free upgrade installation on my computer, from Windows 7 to Windows 10. If I am not mistaken, such activation of Windows 10 is through digital entitlement. 1. After Windows 10 is successfully installed, is there any change being made to the SLIC in its BIOS? 2. Assume that I want to format my computer (and choose not to use Windows 10), and want to reinstall Windows 7. Can I reinstall Windows 7 and get Windows 7 activated through OEM activation as before? Thank you for the advice.
Just wanted to add to this thread regarding a motherboard BIOS update and a upgraded processor and if it will have any effect on activation. I have a Digital Entitlement activation due to an upgrade from Windows 8.1, I am using an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. It had a AMD Athlon II X64 1090T 6 core 3.2 GHz processor. I first updated the BIOS and checked activation. Was still activated. I then swapped the proccessor to a AMD FX-8370 8 core 4.0 GHz processor and it's still activated. Therefore the HWID used by Microsoft doesn't look at the BIOS version or the processor ID when determining activation status. In the past I had replaced the WD hard drive with a SSD drive and that had not affected activation either. All that's left for HWID would be the motherboard itself and the video card installed and possibly the memory.
because the state of entitlement is checked only once at 6 months from the last check date and clock is ticking down ? anyway , hdd/ssd do not count in MS HWID I have here for this test computer 3 hdds all with 10_PRO , each with several clean installs , different versions of 10_PRO all installs are/were entitled from first boot, but I grab the DAZed entitlement only once. is quite interesting to know and be sure which other hardware components do no count in MS HWID c
