ntlite and winreduce are pants, I even tried ntlite paid but it's a con, only enables a few more removals...still not much. I got a refund though iwt = install wim tweak. uses dism to do it's magic, guess that's why it's a bit sluggish. dism is slow too. wish there was a quicker way to do things..
hoo install_wim_tweak lol! sorry man didn't associate yup with windows7 was a lot easier, plenty of apps doing the job for us! guess we still have to do it manually, deploy the iso and break s**t up with wimtweak
I tried it too, pretty slow at removals, I decided to give ntlite another try, as it's the fastest tool so far that I've tried. will report back... if you uncheck all the compatibility settings you can remove even more stuff which is good, managed to find most of what I want to remove and more. so far my winsxs is 3.91gb, on to a 2nd cleanup now in ntlite. I think I've found my new love.. live removals compat list disabled for extra removals really quick at removals and rebuilding image
yeah already knew about those new features but unfortunly the app is not for free so i'm sticking with the wintool! going to try to test your infs removals today, let me just finish to play around with the packx edit: still with ntlite free version you can remove some printers and modems infs. enable/disable compenents and services, etc.
I re-purchased a home license, I think it's worth it, the gui is really professional looking and it easer to navigate, unlike winreducer. I've been fiddling with it most of the day, just creating a test install atm, got my wim down to 1.3gb so far. i'm doing it in stages, for each of the component sections and then at the end I will use batch list to remove any packages not removed my ntlite, should hopefully end up with super small w10 image. unlocking ntlite allowed me to remove everything on my driver removal lists. right got my 1.36gb wim and am now running a dism removal batch to further reduce it....muahahah 7.17gb mounted image 3.25gb of which is winsxs will post final size...assuming it works.
nice! having some dificulties with wintoolkit sometimes he removes the packages sometimes it doesn't tryiing to not spend 50euros on ntlite but...
its not its more for win7 and win8! but he detects all the wim. packages on win10 was hoping he could deleted the packs easilly edit: the developer was working on a 2.xxx version but since 2015 there are no news.. atleast on the site!
ok, I've decided to abandon this, it's just too time consuming. i'd remove something and it'd break something else, i'd put that back and remove something else and something else breaks..not sure I have the patience anymore for this. so I'm just gonna do what I've always done; 1) service disabler batch 2) tasks disabler batch removing components seems to be more trouble than it's worth imo after all this, plus I can't be arsed to cleanup each time a new windows comes along, I think it's safer to just disable as many services, drivers and tasks as possible and then get on with other stuff. I think I was getting a bit too obsessed about removing this n that, if I carry on i'd not get anything else done lol.
I've revised my service disabler batches and created catagories; drivers; one lists all the services I haven't catagorised one lists legacy device support drivers ide, atapi, serial, scsi etc one lists Bluetooth drivers (if using a different stack) one list is for VMware use as it needs ide, atapi and one scsi driver on a fresh install one is for usb 3.0 if using intel drivers one is for the ms sata driver once you've installed drivers services; normal install and VMware safe list pshell script + reg file to disable remaining security protected services megalist of tasks + screenshot of extra tasks to disable via autoruns apps; list of apps to disable or keep (use # to keep ones you might use) list of apps new to rs2 batch file to remove patches auto installed by wu for office 2016 also removes various components only visible in add/remove apps like myuninstaller by nirsoft (tailored for office + word + outlook only) you'd have to edit it you own needs useful batch files to execute; component cleanup component cleanyp + reset base scan health check health restore health
soon i'm finished with this iso i will exec your batches! wow anarx! nice new release! time to play with those new toys forgot to ask you, about these KB packages my current OS is PT-PT language, i don't need the multikeyboard feature, like sometimes it changes my keyboard to US sometimes it changes it to portuguese so what can i remove from here? can i remove then all ? edit : on a offline image.
you will need to rename your kbd dll to kbdus.dll and replace the kbdus.dll it leaves behind if you remove the kb layout packages. en-us seems to be the default language fallback whatever lang version you have. it's the one you can't remove. in ntlite you can remove all languages except us English. about iso creation, I think it's easier and less time consuming if you just install windows as normal and do a combination or ntlite + my batches. I've taken them down for now, I may put them back up again. I didn't have much success at doing a custom slim iso, things keep breaking and most of it was in the setup process or when I got to the blue screen where you do a user name... It kep failing at that point, if would hang on the finishing up or whatever screen and then reboot and then asking me to do that part of setup again and then hang again...just went in a loop. so I thought fek this and just keep to cleanup once windows is installed.
i'm working on a iso now only with dism, just forget ntlite man, the only things that i remove with sucess were the printer drivers and some basic features of OS, if you go on a killing spree with ntlite you always get a blue screen after the install (lol) edit : and i'm talking about the free version! its just a scratch but its working and nothing seems broken so far, theres a lot of stuff that can be removed but i'm doing this very slowly, this s**t requires too much time and pacient. stripped down a PRO N version PT-PT 14393. Gonna Remove / Test more stuff on a offline image, the main things that generelly gets broken if you get greedy are: Enable/Disable Features ; Network Center ; Internet Connection. so when you remove be sure to take a look on this stuff on your VM ps: if you find a way to integrate+install unsigned drivers on a .wim whitout the need of a second boot let me know edit: the iso was already customized win msgm toolkit so problably there are some packages missing on the list because they were already removed with the tool!
i found msgm toolkit too fiddly, i prefer something with an actual gui that's east to navigate and with a bit more control.
