i couldn't work with any of the tools so i just ended up doing the batches. i know i'll sound like an advert but the ntlite prog is really easy to use and quick, the key is to contact the auother and tell him to remove options that break stuff.
rancorx i know its easy and have a very beautifull gui explaining what all the packx do, driver integration, regedit integration etc etc but for 50€ b*tch please... i prefer to test/fail test/fail on a VM for 2 or 3 weeks and discover what is ok to chop and what is not, i'm not a coder but problably ntlite chops stuff with pure dism like msgm tool or wintoolkit, but if he chops the packs + winsxs and reg keys well... in that case the 50€ are well paid for now i'm testing with pure dism(1) and wim_tweak(2), i think s1ave77 on some post explains why he prefers the wim_tweak metodh not 100% sure. or an easy and fast away is to grab your bats and run them! but i need some hobby so... managed to get a 8gb Windows Folder and a 2gb .wim without a hugee chop on a pro version, atm i'm downloading at 300kps a LTSB PT hoping its not portuguese-brazilian trying to make a main OS system. i'll add the packages chopped later.
i'm narrowing down the stuff in ntlite that breaks windows 10, so i'll know what to not remove, i've also revised my batches somewhat, trying to make a safer removal. still using iwt to do clenaups & folder cleanup batches. iwt + ntlite + folder cleanup batches + reg cleanup edit, naaaa your right man, after lots of testing, i've found ntlite deletes some things windows truely needs and you can't prevent this, good app but flawed at removals also the activation system is terrible, you can't copy it to another pc you own and then import the license as the app has lame anti piracy protection which forces you to waste activations, authors solution was "make a system snapot or fiddle with mac adddresses etc" poor. guess it's back to the batches. when i get round to it, i'll re-share them, still got some errors to correct and some other things to try.
the folder cleanup batches will give you a lot of work for sure man glad you are doing that MountPath : "C:\win10\tmp" ------------------Starting----------------- Mounting registry file... OK Writing to Log (Packages.txt) 1836/1836OK -------------------Ending------------------ Unmounting key... OK -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Unmounting Image" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1836packx maybe i can reach -60 /-70 doubt i can go further than that.
i don't have ie raconrx lol i'm on the 16xx packages i'm still manage to remove IIS addons Homegroup and some more windows features i'm almost reaching the limit on a offline iso. edit: if you want i will post later the driverstore name.infs that people don't need like floppy drivers etc if you are interested in doing some bat removers edit: rancorx added these telemetry b*tches to your services.msc batch sc config TieringEngineService start= disabled sc config CDPUserSvc start= disabled sc config CDPUserSv start= disabled sc config OneSyncSvc start= disabled sc config MessagingService start= disabled sc config PimIndexMaintenanceSvc start= disabled sc config UserDataSvc start= disabled sc config nistoreSvc start= disabled
made a batch file to do appx cleanup removes just over 2gb registry enteries remain, too much work to do...haven't found a tool to batch remove stuff from registry...if such a tool exists??? made a batch to remove leftover files removes a further 114mb / 179 files merged driver removals into one batch made a batch to remove unused kb layouts made a batch to remove other some other stuff, bio and speech files, printdialog etc all in all, starting to feel much less metroish now. will upload when done testing. /offtopic ditched startisback and went back to classic shell, found a sweet xp skin
yeah i do that, i don't why everything get's more bloated, nvidia drivers, photoshop, windows etc...i thought new software was meant to improve on previous versions, devs have a funny way of thinking. guess they never heard of LESS is MORE. btw what browser you using? the only reason i've chosen to plump with ie is all the other browser have became bloated and full of useless features i don't need, ie seems to stay the same, sure it's a bit buggy at times but it's light of memory usage and does what i need it to do. to be honest i'd still be using wmp if ms would add an aspect ratio setting but no........mpc-be+madvr+lav+reclock i found the original mpc-hc more unstable, i also tried media player dot net but it's not very good + media center remotes don't work with it i slimmed down photoshop a few months back, by editing the installer files, so it's almost cloudless...if you use photoshop you might be interested. oh and removed the restricted codes packages, media foundation packages and windows media format packages yesterday from my install, no probs, apart from no evr/sync renderer but i use madvr. reinstalled media foundation and media format packages, some games refuse to load complaining mfplat is missing and windows media feature is required.
i don't use photoshop for years man! i just use Paint atm Chrome + Ublock Origin + Https Everywhere Winamp MPC-HC +LAV +madVR +Reclock (Need to try BE!) Steam 7Zip thats basically what is installed on my main OS wich is a gaming/media OS about the browser, i tried Yandex (Opera Based) but it had some flash problems but it looked like a pretty decent browser, if you find something let me know, tor is not an option for me, it is too damn slow About the Chopping, wim_tweak took ages to remove stuff so the tests are tooking longer, like 1h30, to remove on a clean .wim i'm on the 1740 packx with some features yet to remove +remove the majority of the fonts, all cursos, infs from the driverstore and languages +probably tomorrow i will post the packages left to get some input of you man! yeah i've done all the drivers, i need to do my services removal again though as things went weird. also you can now remove shell experience host and not get a popup when clicking the windows button, looks like they removed the stupid popup in rs2! i've noticed that clock and network flyout no longer works on my install, don't care, found netsetman which gives back classic network settings for lan and wifi. there's also a classic clock available.
Not sure which of these tweakd disabled my Xbox One controller... Would any of these tweaks mess with Windows 10 Hotspot feature? I connect to the internet via Ethernet connection that I share through my Wi-Fi card for my mobile devices using these commands: start C:\WINDOWS\System32\NETSH WLAN Set HostedNetwork Mode=Allow SSID=X Key=X start C:\WINDOWS\System32\NETSH WLAN Start HostedNetwork as well as enabling connection sharing in Control Panel - Networking - Connection properties.
you'd need to look in device manager and check which driver you need to re-enable for the xb1 controller. not sure about the hotspot thing, never used it, but my wifi and ethernet are working. @Sobre27 added a few more services; [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AppXSvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TimeBrokerSvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tiledatamodelsvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 breaks taskbar right click... settings app still works and so does win key + x as well as taskbar properties via settings app which is the only app left on my pc now.
yeah i use a wii u pro controller which i prefer to the 360/xb1 controllers, seem to have better bluetooth range and they fit my hands better. ^ nice xp-ish process list. i'm still working on the file cleanup, i've perfected my driver removals though. also removing the windows bluetooth packages seems to remove portable devices package as well. i have an old lumia which i repurposed as a mp3 player with a 200gb msd, when i rebooted it was uninstalled and unknown. so you have re-add the portable devices package. here is the windows media / media foundation safe removal list; Microsoft-OneCore-Multimedia-MFPMP Microsoft-Windows-Media-Format-Package (keep a copy of wmvcore.dll as some video editors need it) Microsoft-Windows-Multimedia-MF-multimedia-Package Microsoft-Windows-Multimedia-RestrictedCodecs (ok if you have lav, ffdshow or any other codec pack installed) Multimedia-RestrictedCodecsExt (ok if you have lav, ffdshow or any other codec pack installed) network flyout no longer works for ethernet or wifi, now using NetSetMan, all ya network stuff from the tray. for bluetooth still on toshiba stack, works fine with the ms drivers removed as well as the main shell packages. managed to remove (temporary moved for the mo) most of the immersive shell dlls from system32/wow64 settings app still works as does start menu and taskbar. will post a list when finished. nearlly de-metroed.
below is a list of the immersive shell dlls i've removed from system32, tested and start menu, settings app and taskbar all work. Rancor did you chop the bluetooth pack + bluetooth drivers? no problems at all dispite the portable stuff? (i didn't try it) Did you test those dll removes on a chopped windows or on regular one? edit: some games don't work without the media feature pack (GTA V) solution: integration or post install of: KB3133719
dlls removed on kinda fresh install in vmware but should be fine on a slimmed install as some of them will be gone already. bluetooth working great with the toshiba stack and no ms bt files or drivers.
