nvm....had to go back to original removal method. cbsenum removes packages that you don't instruct it to, explains why there wasn't much talk about it on msfn forums, dodgy tool it seems, shame because its real quick at removing stuff compared to install wim tweak. edit, spent most of day re doing all the batches and deleting ones that aren't in redstone 2. when i finally share the files, it'll much easier to remove stuff and organised better. (still using install wim tweak) but i've changed the file names of all the removal scripts to match their package names correctly and partially organised them in groups on what they are for, so you should get a good idea what you are removing, for ones not grouped you will need to google them if you really need to know but i've tested them throughly. to give you an idea; i use my system(s) for; gaming web browsing downloading llstening to music watching videos the odd bit of ms office use en-GB / en-US user w10 pro user what i don't use; remote desktop terminal services streaming / casting modern / metro apps windows media player home networking anything server or enterprise related so you will be able to remove non critical language files for en-GB or en-US enterprise related software remote desktop stuff and so on... guys / girls on other languages and other versions of windows 10 will be able to look at my files and get an idea on what they can or don't want to remove consider all removal batches "safe" as they will not stop windows from booting / working, the only ones that might cause issues will be indicated. that's all for now.
thank god i discovered this forum like 5 months ago i learn'd a lot since im a big noob! a big thanks to all you guys! your threads are gold! im running 10 enterprise ltbs (murphy78 iso). Rancorx2 can you gently post your safe packages so i can remove then with wim_tweak please? my two cents on your thread, about the media player use MPC-HC or MPC-BE with madVR and Reclock (if you have a +120hz monitor) you will be amazed with the diference if you tweak madvr, its very easy to use and there are a quite few tutorials to achieve the best image quality! just forget about the LAV filters dude! for mp3 i'm using the old but gold winamp! 0 resources and it does the job! like you (i think) i'm a pretty hardcore gamer (CSGO) and i dont want/need all this windows packages on my OS they are useless to me.
funny you say that i'm using mpc-be + madvr + reclock = best playback indeed, also about lav i have them installed as they are recommended to be used with madvr (if you have an nvidia card) for best experience, got it all setup a week or two ago and now cpu usage is 3-5% when playing 1080p instead of 10-20%. about the packages, just wait a little longer, there's over 200 that are safe to remove, bit much to list here.
I can't wait for your work! But may I ask, can your method prevent DISM report corruption? I've tried to remove Cortana and Edge before but DISM said the image has corruption after that.
if the component store becomes corrupt run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth whch usually fixes it also don't remove too many packages at once, it can corrupt the store, cause slow restart on the working on updates screen sometimes.
s1ave77 and rancorx2 if i remove packages with win_tweak example: (1)install_wim_tweak.exe /o /d /l (2)install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c "packname" /r (3) install_wim_tweak.exe /h /o /d /l does it remove the reg files? or just the packs? if the script don't remove the registry files how can i remove then? is it better to remove them offline? sorry about the noob questions. btw s1ave77 your JATD script was and is very usefull to me !
The running install_wim_tweak reports to edit the registry prior to the removal for each package, online and oflline. I checked for Defender before and after and a lot of reg keys were missing afterwards. Reinstalling the packs via TI elevated dism seems to restore most entries (in my tests the telemetry could be revived with packages exported prior to the rip-off).
Ooopsie, just checked your post again and noticed the /d switches (still abbodis post is the only reference fro this i can find), afaik they prevent the reg file deletion. I use it with out it.
I use the ones given in the /? help: Code: install_wim_tweak.exe /o /l install_wim_tweak.exe /o /c "packname" /r install_wim_tweak.exe /h /o /l
Rancor i got this error oxc0000135, seems like the turn on/off win features is broken, when i try to run some apps (maybe netframework dependent) The Appx, Internet Explorer, Windows Media, Insider, Help and Streaming and Casting Folders didn't get me any error system seems ok. need to go deep into the others to check what is causing this.
doing it right now i'll give you some feedback later! edit: saw your prints right now, do you have your win folder compressed? 2/3gb on winsxs
nope no compression. i forgot to remove a few batch files from the threshold folders which were only for redstone 2, will be cleaning up the rs2 folder in a bit, need to delete all the batch files that don't apply as the packages aren't there, otherwise it'll be a waste of time, removing nothing. apart from that it should all work, i've been going through to see if there's any spelling mistakes but all seems good so far.
dude threshold 2 the bluetooth driver packs are on .txt! don't forget to change it for .bat on the next upload! ; ISO: en_windows_10_enterprise_2016_ltsb_n_x64_dvd_9057894 Treshold 2 v. 10.0.14393.0 Removed with sucess: Appx bats ; Windows Media bats ; Windows Insider bats ; Windows Help bats ; Streaming, Casting bats ; Internet Explorer bats; Netframework shared and perfcounters bats; All driver packages removed. HID miniports package had to do it manually you forgot to create the bat file ModernCore packs - all removed with sucess. dont forget - run the bats more than once, sometimes wim_tweak don't delete the packages. Microsoft-Windows-NetFx3-WCF-OC Microsoft-Windows-NetFx4-WCF-US-OC Microsoft-Windows-NetFx-Shared-WCF its ok to remove this 3 packs whitout breaking net framework 3x and 4x?
