For testing purpose i tryed this on my old box whit win7ue and daz's. Did the upgrade whit the msdn iso from here https : //www .microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO (extracted it in a folder and launched setup.exe), win10pro activated Now it's time to upgrade my 2 legit 8.1 licenses
Did you upgrade from within Windows 7 (run setup.exe from the ISO) or did you boot from USB/DVD and upgrade from there? Do both methods work the same? (I already have the RTM ISO, so I would prefer to use that instead of downloading again from Windows Update.)
sorry but one of my machine with DAZ 2.2.2 fail to upgrade with the error message (in blue background): thread exception not handled. i do'nt know if it's because it detects something fishy or not, but another machine worked after 2 tries. im' doing the upgrade from windows update.
As the Windows 10 update icon is not pushed out to domain connected pc's I've tested Windows 10 on a Loader activated domain pc and can confirm that it installs and activates without issues.
Yep, Daz doesn't work with GPT, I've tried. Sorry for repeated messages but the database is having hiccups. So, if I installed W7 on MBR, upgrade to W10 on MBR too, and verify online. Then I remove the partition, convert it to GPT and reinstall W10, would it work? Or the data that activates W10 is wiped if I switch from MBR -> GPT?
I have Win 7 Pro activated with DAZ loader but i never made any updates. Before i upgrade to Win 10 do i have to download the Genuine tool from MS to validate the activation or its fine like it is? At system info it says Windows is Activated.
On my Windows 7 activated with DAZ Loader do i have to download the Genuine tool to validate or is this enough ? On my system info it says Windows is activated. I intend to upgrade to Win 10 PRO.
Do you guys that clean install using an ISO use a Microsoft account or a local account? In the latter case, how does MS know you are already activated Win10 with upgrade process?
Guys, Calm down. These first few days will be hectic. Not everyone will have the answers. Lets sit back a couple of weeks and see what discoveries are made.
In really basic: You are connected to the internet your hardware ID is shared with microsoft and tied with your activation status at the time. So the next time you reinstall it will activate when on the internet regardless is you have a MSA or not. If you are not connected to the internet and run the update it will be activated taking prior activation status during the update. Now if you try fresh install (Still never connecting to the internet) the next time its installed you wont be activated even when you do connect to the net as microsoft does not have your hardware ID stored or activation status.. Bottom line.. Make sure you are connected to the internet and update windows 7 (daz loader activated) then once you hit windows 10 desktop still make sure you on connected to the internet and check status.. All good? Reinstall, connect to the internet and your activated. The people who are having issues are likely just not connected to the net after the update or are fresh installing without updating first. Or are using KMS instead of Daz loader, or who have upgraded to incorrect windows 10 version.
I know that DAZ loadewr on Win 7 will be fully activated after the upgrade. I will also try Win 8 pro activated via KMS to see if it is activated, has anyone tried thatyet?
Win 8.1 Pro with KMS upgraded to Win10 and activated. Cheers. Edit: It says volume MAK channel and permanently activated. So that takes away the need for KMS service on 10.
Question: Win8.1 with KMS activation. Will Win10 be permanently activated after upgrade or will it have standard KMS activation for 180 days?
