It will nag you about activation the entire time if you don't activate it.
Most ppl will use kms activation for this since it's not exactly sold in stores.
We cannot guarantee that you'll be able to kms activate forever without fail.
A year or so down the line they could update the KMS protocol.

Whether or not we can bypass the protocol without messing up system files depends on what they do and how hard they make it.
I'm not sure which activation tools currently work. I think I heard somewhere that the latest iteration of KMS_VL_ALL did.
    Try looking for it.

Thank you for such informative answer.

I thought about Pro N as an alternative option. As I understand it also comes without Windows Store, but control over Windows Updates is lost as well. On the other hand, activation should be easily done through that free upgrade trick, shouldn't it?

Negative, Pro N has the store, to my knowledge.
It just doesn't have media apps and media codecs and such.
No camera app, movie player, etc.

    My '2cents opinion'....
The LTSB Enterprise without N (media support is usefull), are the ultimate versions for desktop use. Something like cyanogen mode for Android os...
Definately on x86 systems because all that metro ui is using a lot of resources on the background.

A modern, clean, stable, uptodate OS satisfying a lot of needs, but without all that metro UI bloadware.
Personally, used windows 8 direct from beginning back from 2012, metro apps once by installing tested and further never used it.
Seems to me these are the versions to stick around on desktop and laptop...

And here we sit with a bunch of really smart guys that where chomping at the bit for kms 7, we can always hope for a UI from cold0 to help. I think it is good, now the world will go through it with a fine tooth comb in order to understand M$. No local host = do it on an IPhone.

 Always N and ya like I don't game ;)

But will their scaled appz not stream better than foobar and mpc-be? I mean with what we have in our chain we are just dying to visit that store and download the PS app. It does have promise does it not, and we should say ty M$ and god they do listen to us a bit. Worth testing this one and looking into it for real later, as win 7 is getting old. 2x What is the process to purchase this type of version and does anyone have a price per seat for this version? and oh ya  how will we ever get Skype with this version  loving it for sure.

    Regards

The photo viewer tweak? It should work on all Windows 10 versions.

Why not just install Non-N version then disable WMP using "Turn Windows Features On or Off"?

According to MSDN it's not just WMP that is stripped. So even if you install N, then install the Media Feature pack, then remove WMP, the result should still be 'liter' than a Non-N version in the first place.

Sir, are you sure that the media feature pack doesn't reinstall all those metro apps? Like Skype, Camera, Music...
