maybe yours hasn't extracted yet..my dl stopped at 3.4gb and again at around 5 and it is now I think finished at 6.5.
You need to keep rebooting your machine and checking for windows updates until you no longer see any more updates, then reboot and check it again... still no updates? ok... reboot again... oh... there is an update now.... reboot again.... Then disable hiding protected operating system files and hidden files, then look in your C:\ to see if you can see the $Windows.~BT folder.
My question is: when the download is finished, shall we make a bootable ISO (for exemple from a pen drive) to perform a clean install?
Should be fine with 4GB memory with upgraded T9300 C2Q CPU - still debating on whether to do the slower D620 with "just" 2GB memory, which is the spare backup. Optiplex GX620 MT is also W10 served - not sure if I wanted to upgrade, it currently triple boot to LinuxMint, Vista & W7Ultimate - run as a server with 3 HDD, not going to get it all messed up - even with upgrades & OEM parts replaced, I haven't gotten lots of mileage out of it over the last 8 to 10 years. Got a spare Optiplex 380 SDT with and secondary SATA HDD (2.5") added - ready to replace the 620 MT. Back on topic, looks like my download is done & ready, I can see the ESD inside the Source subfolder now, time to run a full backup first onto the external HDD. Extra Footnote: rebooted my Dell Optiplex 580 SFF/desktop and $Windows.~BT folder created and download has begun, no longer my HTPC is still running a bit on the slow side.
it's odd that some say they do have an esd and i don't on any of the three downloads i got today..i can't imagine why but maybe it has to do with the speed of your connection in how they send them. I have a 120Mbit so things come pretty quick but i would think it would still be in their interest to send as little as possible.
You first need to update the current version of Windows to Windows 10. That updating process provides Microsoft with the details of your activation which will be stored at Microsoft for future use. Then you can do a clean install and it will activate with the stored information on the Microsoft server. You have to do it in this order: first update, later clean install if you want a clean install.
So is the $windows~BT a hidden folder? I'm looking in my C:/ Drive where I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Haven't seen anything yet. No updates available through Windows Update either.
Try rebooting a couple of times, I didn't get it until I did..also make sure you are up to date on fixes. Oh and of course make sure you have the options to show system and hidden files turned on or you will never see it.
That's not a difference, WU usually get some headers that don't affect the link, i.e. fg.v4. bg.v4. au.v4. ds. wsus.ds.
Yes, i do have hidden items option ticked. Also up-to-date on fixes. Gonna try rebooting a few times.
I've seen the suggestion to reboot a few times in order to get the files to start downloading, but is there any idea on how long after a restart do the files start to appear?
