Cumulative Update's do not include every update, including the smaller dynamic updates or other random updates found only in the catalog. The point was to list, everything.
CU's include everything from the previous CU, so you only need 1 CU, forget about the other updates, no point listing more than the most current CU
The CU usually includes all the updates found via Windows update, but not the updates that go beyond it found in the catalog. Further installing the latest CU sometimes still does mean installing updates from Windows Update. Again, the point was to list everything. -- Regardless if it was within Windows Update or only found in the catalog.
CU's superseed all previous CU's incl. the ones only published to ms update catalog, they even superseed older dynamic/safe os updates, not FLASH or SSTACK updates. For example, the current CU for 14393 published to ms catalog supersedes the one on WU. The last one published supersedes/replaces all previous ones. SImply following the Hotfix Repo, mixed with the WHD updatelists and using simple dism commands like abbodi1406's scripts do will be enough. No need to download all previously released kb's, just download the current ones.
I showed both WU histories/installed updates for 2016 LTSB and Pro. What i always do, to be sure, is just install the clean iso and see what WU offers, and if there are more current Catalog/Release Preview Updates available i download all needed and simply integrate them. No need for downloading all previously released updates.
We are suppose to get 2 CU's per Month. Today is last day of AUG. and NO 2nd CU for 15063 ? Any one know why ?
IIRC, Last second CU for 15063 (KB4032188) was released on August 1. too. Code: 2017-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x86-based Systems (KB4032188) Last Modified: 8/1/2017
KB4022632 is just 1 good example of an update not included in any CU (past or current). There are updates not included in the CU and only found in the catalog or offered via Windows update. The list is to list all updates, as the goal is to incorporate all updates into a single ISO.
That's not an update, it's the upgrade assistent, installed during the OOBE stage.. How long are we now listing the updates that are integrated in the install.wims? And how many times do we list all previously released updates, specially the ones who superseed themselves when new ones are released, called Cumulative Updates? Also newer FLASH updates replace the old ones. But you go ahead, downloading GB's of unneeded/superseded/replaced updates and have fun integrating them.
It's something (KB4022632) Microsoft automatically installs when doing a windows update, so I count it. I admitted in my 1st post that I did not filter my list and suggested that people could do so themselves, I just didn't want to take the extra time to weed through it, but I do know defaulting back to the latest CU does not mean you have all the available KB's (again, KB4022632, for example), which for me was the point (to have everything).
What do you expect for 2016 LTSB, it's the same updates. Tonight i will publish the updates needed for all 1607 sku's (6) and satisfy WU.
