This last update broke explorer on my system. This is what I get for trying to uninstall the KB3074681 update via the control panel or when I try to get the properties of the Ethernet adapter. Explorer crashes and returns this Event ID. And if I try to uninstall the update using the command line windows10.0-kb3074681-x64.msu /uninstall I get this
This what I get for trying to uninstall via the control panel. Unnstall by command line returns the error box. I should have been clearer, sorry.
There isn't since it's explorer or one of its module that's borked. What he asks to do would only work if right clicking was what crashed explorer.
Just a reminder to people if you are having issues with Windows 10 or any updates to submit feedback through the feedback tool. If you are unable to do this because you aren't an Insider, you basically at this stage forego the right to complain, since it was your choice to install the 'leaked' version before it is properly ready. Anyone that is an insider, sure, you can comment about having problems on forums, but any complaint is meaningless and pointless if you don't submit feedback about it. Microsoft can only fix the problem if they know it exists. Submit feedback with details of any and ALL issues you have, and upvote existing feedback that affects you.
I disagree. I didn't have to be Insider to complain about bugs in the past. Plus, MS is getting the information anyways and more directly via WER (Windows Error Reporting), as long as you didn't disable it, regardless you're an Insider or not. And since build 10240 is considered RTM, it has to represent a properly ready version because it gets pre-installed on a zillon of new devices. Sure the thing is not out in the wild yet, but it's not the first time that Windows Update broke something. They've got a bonus because it's not officially released so far, but otherwise this would be unacceptable now since automatic updates are enforced.
Well the feedback tool which is conventional is the right way especially before GA However its worth mentioning to highlight this for others to know and when we get sorted we share the solution
Spot on about WER if turn on, irrespective of being an Insider and at this stage of the Build to nip it in the bud ( to take care of the problem in its early stages before it gets too big to manage easily).
Today's release: KB3074678 This one is referred to as an Update so not related to security. But I don't know much about it at the moment.
heh I just got it, was coming here to see what it was another day another patch, another damn REBOOT grrr
Indeed, not sure yet what it is though. It's very interesting getting updates on Saturday, Sunday, etc. I was a little bit bothered to have to reboot during the fights last night. But hey, it's still interesting to see some MS employees working through the weekend pushing out updates. I'm keeping an open mind.
I receive too kb3074678 maybe that fix the issues some of you guys have with kb3074681 worth to check. also kb3074678 didn't replace any other update we have 6 in total. their is one thing for sure their a lot activity in ms I never see updates released in sunday.
