Please Note: When I manually installed this [KB4579305:WinPE] update, DISM applied the update without error, but it clobbered the context menus of my taskbar icons and the only way to restore them was to open Powershell and run the following commandline:

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

The taskbar-icon context-menu-items were restored. Windows Update reports that KB4579305 is needed for the proper operation of Windows and this update is uninstallable.

Thanks, that's what confused me (the difference between using and integrating). When integrating all the other updates I'll integrate the WinPE one too. When searching for updates on WU, it will install the SSU, DU and WinPE ones.

So, there are CU, SSU, DU, DotNet CU, EP, WinPE/SafeOS, maybe Spectre/Meltdown and more?

When the KB4579305 [SafeOS:WinPE] cab file is dearchived, it's filled with 19041.505 files. For me, it's getting difficult to track all these version changes. Like you said, maybe we will get a 506+ CU next Tuesday and we'll be able to forget about 504 or 505.

I integrated all of them and I'm still on .488.

If I try to use the WUSA commandline, I just get an error:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:4579305 /norestart

    Thanks :animatedwink:

LoL, no. I was expecting it to be empty, it used to be when I checked before. Clicking on Uninstall updates actually did that trick. :pardon:

Why do you keep trying to install an update that is not even meant for live installs?

When your parents told you to not stick your tongue in the power outlet did you do that anyway in more than one way?

Then how can some users have a + .488 build installed?

Nobody has a higher build than .488 installed, they mentioned the ISO is named .504 and that is because of the DU for Sources messing up the ISO build filename.

In both .487 & .488 the Change Log is the same but something had to change for Microsoft to increase CU from .487 to .488 ? I'm curious about what the change was.

Ok, but I also integrated DU for Sources and I'm still on .488.

    Are you for real?

Only the ISO, made by using convert-UUP.cmd (when feature update is used) will show .504 in the ISO filename, the install will be .488.

I wasn't talking about the ISO filename but the build that appears after running "winver" on the Start Menu after installing Windows.

For the fourth time, NOBODY reported having a higher than 19041/2.488 build installed.
