This issue might have something to do with installing additional language packs. In my case I had en-GB & en-AU (which except for the Speech component is the same with en-GB). The CBS.log seems to point to some en-GB components missing. But there are other erors too. By uninstaling en-GB which is close to useless anyway, the issue still exits. The CBS log shows errors in failing to remove components belonging to 10.0.19041.488, although I have never installed the preview update. It seems to be in the area of containers and hyper-v components which is consistent with what I see left behind in C:\Windows\servicing\Packages. @Enthousiast I can sort out myself, I was only trying to alert other people that there are issues with the current 2020-09 KB4571756 failing to install. Now I noticed that even if it failed to install and I ran all the dism /online /cleanup-image commands showing no error and ran the StartComponentCleanup too, it leaves behind other parts of the installation which may explain why I see .488 components.

I thought it was my problem so I took the install.wim, put it in a USB created with Rufus starting from the original ISO and discarded the ISO created with W10UI. With the August updates I did not try to create iso, just install.wim With the September ones, same problem when installing. no bug with a june 2020 (build .3755 ) ltsb 2016 x64 (fr) reboot after 10 seconds after files copy with manual slipstream without cleanup neither resetbase done. edit: reproduced with w10ui with june (build .3750) / july / september on ltsb 2016 x64 (fr) ... edit2: boot.wim ltsb 1607 slipstream update is broken, but when ... that's the question ... trying with olders on spare time .. and server 2016 too

Just an update, in the end I used the same recommendation from @Enthousiast of using the current Feature Update to Windows 10, version 2004 (19041.508) from uupdump.ml and doing an in place update. Version 20H2 can wait a bit longer for now as to me it does not appear reliable - it is in beta after all. Without definitive proof, but after enough testing and analysing the CBS logs, I believe the root cause of the 2020-09 CU installation failures in my case is in relation to the Optional FOD components and the en-GB Language Pack. Because I use to do full component cleanup after each update, apparently some of the components required by the 2020-09 CU went missing following cleanup and this bug in one or more of the updated components is causing the issues.

I tried three different ways to create an 19042-508 x64 image (with pro, pro ws and home): - Download 450 ESD, decrypt with esd-decryptor-wimlib and create virtual edition with uup-creator-wimlib - then Integrate all actual updates (Enthousiasts link to latest files) with W10UI (Resetbase, Cleanup, IntegrateEdge, NO ESD convert). Result 6.578.004 KB ISO - Download uup Dump (add additional editions, cleanup after Update-Integration) - then again above W10UI step Result 4.721.202 KB ISO (the smallest one) - Download uup Dump (additional editions, NO cleanup after Update-Integration) - again first U10UI steps Result 5.749.340 KB ISO I assumed that size of ISO should be nearly the same, because content has all updates, Net, Edge, has cleanup and resetbase at the end (W10UI). But it has huge differences. Where is the fault in my thoughts? Is Cleanup of uup Dump websites update-integration other than W10UI and persists even after new Cleanup of W10UI? But then again, why is third case still smaller? Is there obsolete stuff in 450 ESD? Maybe someone knows....
Your post is not really clear enough to assess what you actually did. The 19042.450 ESD>ISO already contains the new Edge, so what exact updates did you integrate? UUP dump uses a bit adjusted W10UI to integrate updates, cleanup on uup dump = /startcomponentcleanup to get a resetbased ISO you have to also set resetbase =1 in the convertconfig.ini file. UUP uses an untouched clean base, without any previously integrated updates in, ESDs and MVS ISOs have. Next time download zip from uup dump and extract it to a simple folder, next download the dotnetfx48 and flash update and extract the cab files from the msu with 7zip and create the UUP folder inside the unzipped folder and put in the cab files you've extracted, then, when the download command is started, all updates will be integrated in one run in the base indexes and not in all indexes. this will be smaller in size and takes way less time. Afaik, the 19042.450 ESD is not cleaned up. The difference is that on the ESD>ISO converted and updated ISO 2 indexes (home and pro) needed to be updated separately and profws is created from the pro index. Another difference is that the source ESD already has pre-integrated updates in, the uup source doesn't. On the UUP > ISO converted and updated ISO it only needed to update the Home index and all others are created from it. Another difference is that the uup project integrates the LCU in the winre.wim because the winre.wim also is the base for the boot.wim, on the ESD project it only integrates the du for safeos and the ssu, this is how msft officially does it (not a big difference in size between them). Updating indexes separately will result in a bigger result.
I saw this information from microsoft about KB4576750 and so just leave the last ssu. I will generate the install.wim with the two ssu. Thank you
